Meanwhile, real boxing fans are looking forward to this fight.
Very true.. Would love to post more often to discuss boxing but people here are more about hating other fighters..

im sorry bro but he is a p4p champion and that made your own bed stuff just symbolizes that there wasnt enough respect for him in the first place. hbo has been boxing's devil for a while now..at least this entire year..they have done little good at all

I really want to see Golovkin fight Ward. So, why don't you open a kickstarter campaign and see how much you can raise for a GGG/Ward fight? I'll kick in the first $50. You'll need around $8-10 million.

You're a joke and a waste of time. All one liners with attitude and no substance.

He's P4P champ? Why because you deem him so? He made his own bed by choosing inactivity while GGG was fighting 3 or 4 times a year and packing arenas on both coasts. Consequently, he's not most people's P4P. Has nothing to do with respect.

And HBO's backing GGG, Kov, Crawford, Chocolatitio, Bradley, Wolters, and, yes, even Ward amongst others. What are you talking about?

Don't be surprised when Kovalev is the one that's dead in the ring.

Back half of 2016 is a bit of a joke schedule for a fight.
No one is going to want to see it once one of them take a loss. I kind of hope Pascal gets an injury in training camp so Kovalev can fight a lighter touch. Perserve those zeros for the collision. I want when Ward beats Kovalev and shuts him out, there are NO EXCUSES!

he's a p4p champ bc he's on the list and has been there..and hasnt lost, but dominated fights...these are the facts..regardless of how i feel about his status now the truth is the respect was never there for him...and they are proving it now. and ggg is not most ppl's p4p champ...97k proves that..he has a lot of fan boys that doesnt make him a p4p king..kovalev and roman are worthy his resume is not..staying active does not mean u fought great fighters..

hbo backing means wat? they force you to move up or dont sign a contract with you? this is a first and you are denying based on inactivity? if that is the case why have retired boxers that came back never had to move up to be on hbo? i want ward kovalev but to kick him out a division that has new life in it is just sad...thats how bad they dont want to deal with al haymon..and ppl wont call them out on that...pbc talks about hbo fighter all the time and sees them as champs..hbo makes the anti gatti list just for pbc fighters...smh

You'll be betting the house on Ward, then?

Ward dominated good fighters four years ago. That’s the one fact you’re leaving out. Is there ever an expiration date on that or can I put SRL on the P4P list? Specifically, where’s the disrespect? GGG’s PPV should have nothing to do with P4P status. Nor should any fighter’s popularity. Ward chose inactivity and has therefore fallen out of the P4P discussion (I can also respect people who don’t want to include GGG in the P4P until he beats a higher quality opponent) Ward’s inactivity also cost him any chance he had at a fight with Golovkin, K2’s been consistently clear about this.

Ward has said himself he has trouble making 168. And, unfortunately, there are no easy fights at SMW to make for him because as you know all the top guys are PBC and Ward is RocN. In light of that, what’s so wrong with HBO backing Ward’s move up to his natural weight class of LHW? And if Ward wants a big $$$ fight, HBO’s got just the guy. Wouldn’t it be better to see him fight someone in his weight class rather than a guy he’ll outweigh by 10-15lbs on fight night? Or would you rather see Ward with the advantage over GGG? Maybe a rhetorical Q for you? How exactly was Ward forced by HBO to do anything?

Look, I’d have preferred Ward to stay at 168 and face guys like Degale and Jack while GGG unifies 160 with the idea they’d fight each other early 2017. This is what K2 said was possible. HBO’s probably thinking a build up to Ward/Kov elevates 2 fighters at the same time. Maybe if GGG moves up to SMW and Ward wins the fight they meet somewhere around 172 in the future. That’d be the biggest fight you could make in the next 2 years. Aside from Lampley’s nauseatingly gushing commentary, I’ve got nothing against HBO. Hopefully, the recent change in management will open the door to negotiations with Haymon in the near future. You’re right, it’s silly that they pretend these guys don’t exist.
