The Cotto story will come to a conclusion in a few weeks anyway so this is all academic.
No, he's not "disrespecting" the middleweight division. Either way, I'm getting a great fight in November. A lot better than that ****ty PPV a few weeks ago. Cry on.

It was one guy offering an unreasonable catchweight to another guy. He offered a weight that he knew his opponent would not accept, and didn't even have the decency to offer compensation for the weight drop. You know, EXACTLY what GGG did to Ward.

That said GGG can bow to the terms of the A-side, or he can wait till the champ is stripped, just to fight for a vacant paper strap that will also fail to make him a household name. GGG being a mandatory never meant anything. Floyd Mayweather held two 154 titles for 2 years and never defended them. Until GGG learns his place, no money fights for him.

So forcing genuine contenders to come down from their natural weight to fight for a 160lb title is acceptable to you? Cotto has done plenty 154 and below but his 160 'reign' is a mirage, and not a very good one.

And the Golovkin PPV was actually better than most in terms of entertainment.

No one really considers Cotto the MW champ, except on paper only. So all this whining isn't going anywhere. Cotto is taking on yet another elite opponent, something he's done throughout his career as he moves through divisions. I know a few fighters who should try that sometime.

I know a fighter that is trying that too. He just collected another belt and is chasing the final two in his division; one is an Irishman who has some respect and will step up for a beating, the other is a small diva who is having Plaster de la Mexico flashbacks.

Anyone know if Canelo or Cotto has a rematch clause? I really hope there isn't

I don't know this fighter you speak of. The one willing to go up to 168 except for everyone but the best? Sounds real similar and real familiar

Hmm. No I don't. I see two fighters from two different divisions checking if they can fight at the halfway stage. How could one guy know the other one would not accept? Was it an unfair offer?

He will not have to fight for the belt. He already did when he beat Rubio. The belt will be handed to him.

If it didn't mean anything why does Canelo and Cotto then wiggle themselves like eels on a hot saucer?

You must be really naive when it comes to boxing. Unfortunately for GGG he needs the belts to be relevant in the sport cause he's not a money guy, big named fighters are not running to try to fight him, like is the case for Floyd, Manny, Cotto and Canelo. He and his team haven't grasp this yet. Now, in the case of Canelo since you mentioned him, the guy is a very comfortable and privilege position, it just happens that the guy has the biggest following in the sport, which are the Mexican fans, not only that he's the face of his promotional company, why do you think Canelo has been fighting @ 155 for the last couple of yrs?, he has no belt, does this has affected him in any way?, NO...cause he does not need any belt, actually is the other way around, the belts need him, he bring MONEY and a lot!!!

Let me tell you what's going to happen when Canelo decides to announce that he's a full 160 lber. If he doesn't want to fight GGG, I guarantee you that organizations will start to strip GGG cause "he hasn't fulfill his mandatory defenses". Guess who the mandatory challenger will fight for the the belt? You guessed it, most likely Canelo...why?...cause he is the man who bring the $$$ and in this business everyone is after money!!! Floyd understood this very well and look what he did money wise!!!
Selling out MSG suggests that the status quo with "not being a money guy" is changing. Mike Tyson was not proven against elite as well. But he was knocking people around and it created a buzz and a following.

Regarding stripping GGG: but what if GGG WILL FULFILL his mandatory obligations? If he fights 4 times per year it is quite possible. And now we return again to the first point: if GGG can generate money by himself - why would ABC organizations strip him? Golovkin's money are not worse that Canelo's money.
