You're kidding, right? Hearns found Duran plenty fine, and Duran had no answer. Duran got sparked quite a few times. Let's not overestimate the man simply because of his dominant rise and wild style. Floyd's no Pipino Cuevas.

Analogy. Compared to their opponents they were huge, that's the point.

Compared to Floyd Hearns would be massive (so everyone says), and my point is that Floyd has fought (and beat) larger fighters plenty.

Which tells me you didn't read my post fully.

EARLY Hearns gets smoked by early Mayweather just like EARLY Hearns got smoked by Hagler. Same basic result, Floyd in and gone, Hearns KO'd.

LATE Floyd (2007+) would get smoked by EARLY Hearns.

You can't do straight up comparisons because they changed styles. EARLY Hearns was sloppy and had piss poor defense. Leonard was tagging him all night long, Hagler picked him apart. When Hearns came back larger he wasn't wild anymore, he was precise and accurate, dangerous. That's the Hearns that would give Floyd problems. Duran had the same problem, wild, taking risks early, got more precise and studied later on. That Duran would give Floyd problems.

People couldn't beat Floyd because they couldn't out box him. Wild fighters failed to do so (Cotto, Ortiz, Maidana, supposed to be Pacquiao). Why do you think Floyd drained Canelo and Marquez? A fresh Marquez would have given Floyd problems, a calm Tim Bradley gives Floyd problems. Terence Crawford would give Floyd problems. Lara would give Floyd problems. Not saying any of them would have won, but they would have given Floyd problems. Thus why the fights never would have happened.

Nope. Floyd allowed that fight to go that way, probably to send a message to Broner that he shouldn't have lost and to disprove the Maidana myth. We saw proof of that in the rematch, where Floyd fought the way he should have done in the first place.

I never said he was. All you guys keep making this strawman argument that Hearns' size would prove to be a problem for Floyd because of reach or whatever.

All I said was, Castillo was larger (physically in appearance) than his opponent (Floyd), and got beat. Twice.

De La Hoya was larger than his opponents (Floyd AND Manny) and got beat.

Regardless of anything else, Floyd beat a physically larger opponent and has done multiple times. Size means nothing if you have the skill.

Thus it's not a stretch to believe that Floyd could beat a physically larger Hearns - though Hearns' size is because he was lanky, not just because of height - and Hearns made significant mistakes as a younger fighter. His chin was suspect for years and he was off balance, just like Hamed, and we see what happened there.

THAT is what I said. Pay attention, people.
U don't have a f@ckin clue what your talking about......firstly Benitez as light welter and welterweight was considered one of the best defensive fighters of his time...his nickname was el radar because he made people miss so much in the ring.....the man at 16 won his first world title and that record still stands today......secondly what you mean a younger mayweather smokes a younger hearns....hearns started as 147 fighter and his pro career up to Leonard was all welterweight.....so hearns was 147 and mayweather 130 ..and you say mayweather smokes him ...GTFO you dummy.....we not talking about a silly ginger canelo or a cumbersome maidana.....are you on meth ? ...and now your saying he let maidana bull him...why was he crying to the ref I can't see ..I can't see....he was in control right lol....and the comment that done me was Castillo was lanky and your comparing a Paul Williams to a Thomas hearns lol Jesus .....Castillo was 5 ft 8 at most....mayweather was lucky to get the nod that fight...he was lucky in the first maidana fight...he got dropped by Judah and was not counted...now Floyd has gone most fight experts are saying he is not a Leonard, hearns or Duran level....Duran got caught by hearns because of styles he was to rangy and long for him and Duran was almost the same height as mayweather......hagler,hearns and Leonard all smash mayweather to pieces ..Duran would be 50/50. My advice to you mongo is keep of the meth it's not good for your brain

you can't make this stuff up. you are not a boxing fan if you don't know that ray leonard lost to duran in their first fight. it's one of the most significant wins in the history of the sport.

not only did duran beat leonard, he did it with skill.
you are really thick arent you. statement not question, with the reference i made to the "no mas" surely that tells you something joey? 2nd fight? thicko.
its not one of the most significant wins as leonard was a mere pup joey.
hey joey! go learn something. bell end.

lol says the joey who gives a fack about "faves" you fackin ****** ****! wtf wants to know who you like ? your "faves" is not part of this or these forums, who cares? joey ****.
and yes, duran had primitive skill against floyd mayweathers.
the only thing he had was determination until the 2nd fight with leonard and then we saw the bottle job he really was. leonard boxed his head off and hearns knocked him out so, that pretty much made him a fringe elite fighter.
not forgetting, he was beaten by the brixton ****er kirkland lang. the only fight where he beat a name was carlos palomino. everybody he actually did beat was fringe and everyone he lost to actually were greats but then, he lost to a bunch of nobodies too.
theres no point in overating fighters of old because their skills were primitive.
their were however exceptions which include hagler, leonard, hearns etc.
i was fortunate to see most of the fighters of the day and i can assure you that they are rated far higher now their retired than they were then.
ohh.....i nearly forgot...maybe he was on his way out when he fouled ken buchanan....he was nothing more than a very sore loser. like you.
