According to Loeffler, Ward was considering a catchweight for Ward.

So he can obviously make 168.

Anyway, Ward has moved to 175 now so Golovkin can sleep easy.
172 is a light heavyweight so is campaigning at light heavyweight so you actually just shut yourself down lol...ward is a light heavyweight and there are worthwhile fights down at 168 now...with Degale and badou....and ward could win titles again at super middleweight but I guess him being four pounds over the supermiddleweight limit when he boxed the tomatoe can smith.....and him heading towards kovalev means two things bongo...one is he can't make 168 now and secondly roc nation have said to him....we paid you good dollar signing with us..they then said..stop calling up boxers that are 2 divisions below you and man up and fight kovalev who is your weight or we will devoid your contract S.O.G....S.O.B LOL

Like when Ward said he would come down to 160 for Floyd, I guess that means he has to offer that to GGG as well?
I dont regard the weight as a negotiating concession.

I actually think its fkn lame.

If only catchweights were abolished and this nonsense would stop.

That way Golovkin would not look like a duck for avoiding Ward with that catchweight demand..... and that way Cotto/Canelo would have to fight Golovkin and nobody would be discussing the weight.

Catchweights really are awful, especially considering the fact that they are completely unnecessary.

The fact that Golovkin demanded a catchweight for Ward and yet refused one for 153lb Cotto kinda looks like he is avoiding both.

Lets say Cotto beats Canelo..... IF this article is correct..... then Golovkin walked away from a HUGE payday and a great opportunity to build on his PPV aspirations because he knew that his refusal to take a massive cheque from Cotto would result in Cotto being stripped and him being elevated.

Not a good look, no matter how you paint it.

because wards 7 fans say so

          smh.......

you think cotto dropping his belt not to fight ggg looks good? that would look terrible and elevate ggg even more while making cotto look like a coward.

Actually, I've been saying for quite awhile now that GGG is the best middleweight on the planet. Which is the main reason why IMO this entire unification crusade is complete and utter bull****. Fighting C class paper beltholders and 155lb pretenders, as you call them, is completely pointless when your supremacy in the division is already unquestioned. Especially when there's a guy a division north, a division you've expressed a willingness to fight is, is there, willing, and able to make you a true, bonafide P4P elite. I have no issues calling GGG the best middleweight on the planet. But to be an elite, you have to beat an elite. So let's see the superfight instead of wasting time fighting bums like Lemieux, Lee, and 155lb pretenders, as you called them? Your turn.

Nah, you need to stop getting your info from Boxrec.

When announcing his comeback, Ward stated that the Smith fight will be at 172 because he will work his way back down to SMW.

Thats fight had nothing to do with LHW..... Ward was coming DOWN following inactivity, and Smith is a SMW.

What I just said, is FAR more accurate than what you said.

Ward has never campaigned at LHW.

Not funny at all. Ward would fight Floyd at 160, but not GGG at 164. The reason in both cases was money.

GGG wouldn't have been defending a SMW title against Ward, otherwise he would have had to fight him at 168.
