After beating Joe Frazier and George Foreman in 74, Ali fought Chuck Wepner

Who had a record of 30-9-2 and Ali was a 10 to 1 betting favorite over. The fight was a joke in every way imaginable BUT Ali just beat the guy who beat him before in Frazier and then TKO's the undefeated killer that everyone thought would knockout Ali in Foreman. So he took a soft touch after. Big deal. No one cares now. No one remembers Ali for taking a couple soft touches between big fights, which he did from time to time.

Berto is essentially Mayweather's Chuck Wepner. Floyd finally beat the guy that so many said would beat him, in the richest fight this sport has ever seen against Pacquiao and now he's taking a softy. I'm not paying $74.95 for it, but I'm not mad about it either.

Great thread. It's a blatant mismatch, but at least Mayweather has beat the person everyone wanted him to fight. Let him have his soft touch. No one's forcing you to buy it.

I agree 100%. Not EVERY fighter you fight will be those top guys. EVERY fighter has soft touches here and there.

If there was a fighter at 147 or even 154 who was beating opposition and making noise than it would be completely BS for Floyd not to fight that person but there isn't, Floyd fought them all. Who is there? Amir Khan, Thurman, Danny Garcia, Lara? Pfffft. None of these dudes have done anything special at all, no one has risen above the pack and made you believe they would have a shot at beating Floyd so it's whatever. Berto or Khan or Garcia makes no difference really.

Yep. No problems with Floyd fighting Berto.

                Cool

Ali is a top 10 ATG... Floyd isnt.

                  Comparing Floyd to Ali LOL

                  Lets compare their resumes then...

Who on Floyd CV is comparable to George Foreman?

Ali fought competitors who were in their primes, with the odds stacked against him

Floyds nearest challenge was 5 years too late, against a old midget, who had been knocked out unconscious few fights earlier

well I say thurman only cuz he's been floyd's mando for well over a year now... but the rest I agree....

The way I see it is like this...

He just fought the guy that pretty much (everyone) was saying he wouldn't fight etc...

After floyd specifically stated that he's gonna pick who he wants...

I see no problem with that, even tho its a terrible fight... he did what he said he was gonna do.

Its really simple as well for those who don't like this fight...

Like he said DON'T BUY IT. Nobody is forcing ya (the ones constantly complaining) to buy it...

I won't but if my buddies hit me up to go 1/4 on it or something like that why not. That's what like 20 bucks!
