Yeah you're right but Khan,Porter, and Thurman have been there for over a year now ....porter fought Brook because of the mandatory status... I hope you're right and we get Thurman-Khan or Porter vs either this fall/winter..

        HBO schedule

        January
-Alvarado/Rios 3 - recycled, potential FOTY candidate that turned out awful

        February:
        -GGG/Murray - meaningful

        March:
        -Shiming/Ruenroeng - meaningful (IBF title)

        -Kov/Pascal - meaningful
        -Glazkov/Cunningham - meaningful
        -Chilemba/Lepikhin - meaningful

        April:
        -Matts/Ruslan - meaningful
        -Crawford/Dulorme - meaningful

        -Klitschko/Jennings - meaningful
        -Ali/Santana - stay-busy/showcase

        May:
        -Mayweather/Pac - meaningful

-Canelo/Kirkland - in theory, a match-up with FOTY potential....in reality, a stay-busy/show-case because Kirk was rusty and just isn't that good

        -GGG/Monroe - stay-busy
-Gonzalez/Sosa - kinda meaningful (Sosa might be faded, but he was highly ranked, also marks Chocolatito's American debut)

        June:
-Cotto/Geale - kinda meaningful (lineal defense against an actual MW, 157 catchweight brings its value down a bit imo)

-Walters/Marriaga - stay-busy (though I did enjoy this one, both have amateur history and I'm looking forward to Marriaga's next fight).
        -Verdejo/Najera - show-case (similar to Spence's bout)

        -Bradley/Vargas - kinda meaningful (top 10 140lber vs. top 10 147lber)
        -Valdez/Tamayo - showcase

        July:

-Herrera/Lundy (HBO Latino) - crossroads fight

        -Kov/Mohammedi - stay-busy/mandatory
-Pascal/Gonzalez - a fight that lived up to my expectations, was viewed as a stay-busy though.
        ---------------------
        22 bouts, 9 stay-busy/showcase fights.

Thanks to the guy who posted the breakdown of all the fights, I agree mostly on your assessments. I don't judge guys like Spence as meaningful because he's expected to dispatch of the bums he fighting right now.

I guess the main issue I have is guys like Stevenson,Quillen,Wilder, etc having fights that do absolutely nothing for us or them (except get them paid for a cupcake) and wasting that airtime when they could be airing something much more competitive. And Al Haymon controls all these guys and multiple guys in all their divisions so it's not an issue like GGG where nobody wants to fight him right now.

If Thurman doesn't fight Porter or Khan, then what's the point of the Collazzo fight at all. And if Porter takes a step back and fights someone outside the top 5-7 then all his momentum of the Broner win goes away.
Spence/Lo Greco was more of a showcase, so you're right on that front. Lo Greco did face Porter, but the fact that he took the bout on one week's notice bumps down its value. I'll go back and edit that.

HBO has the stars and PBC has the vast roster, so it could actually be a harmonious partnership if they actually wanted to work together. I'm tired of Quillin fighting wack opposition. Hell, he called himself the "head honcho at MW" last night, as if he's fought everyone. And it's time for Thurman to fight someone worthwhile because he's clearly ready. Thurman/Porter is the most logical WW match-up right now.

So how fast does it need to be in order to develop your talent? You have to put them in fights to showcase their talents, so that they will get a fan base now youre building towards a garcia vs thurman, thurman vs khan, garcia vs khan 2, porter or broner vs any of the fore mentioned names. but they have to have fights on tv to gain a bigger audience that will follow them. You just cant throw them on vs each other, without first building them up. I thought people understood this aspect of match making. Look at the HBO schedule vs the PBC schedule. HBO has a bigger pool of talent to pull from and you still didnt get anyone fighting killer after killer, because boxing doesnt work that way

I don't know why people keep saying HBO has the stars.

Everyone of those stars was built on HBO. Its not like they just showed up there.

                When does NOW happen?

Last year Haymon legitimately ran the worst year in boxing history, and drove Showtimes ratings to the floor.

So after this year does Haymon boxing get good? Or maybe next? You guys said the same exact thing last year.

That's the easiest way to say it without actually going into detail. I wasn't trying to imply that HBO doesn't build stars. For example, I think having Gonzalez face Segura/Arroyo is a good move as HBO knows Roman is only at the beginning of the brand-building process. GGG is one of the best recent examples of HBO's brand-building ability.

So producing the BIGGEST fight in boxing history, being one of the promoters to sell millions of boxing views is bad? What a drama queen...what did his competitors do? what free boxing did his competitors bring to television...?

PBC started this year. Fighters need to build. Not everyone knows who the fighters are so the big fights you crave wont be big and get horrible ratings and youll continue your ranting.

We have gotten good fights this year already. I have no complaints.

You guys really think it was better before dont you?
