You do just realize Cotto turned down 60/40 against Canelo... why would he take $13 mil flat? Might be the dumbest business move in the history of boxing...

Cotto will be looking for a PPV split...I'm convinced of that...

It is the logic he applies when match making, and it shows why he was in no rush to make the fight with Mayweather. Logically, he stands to lose money because he doesn't have access to Mayweather's earnings (contrary to what would happen if it was an inhouse fight) and Mayweather would command more of the revenue.
Great post that is on point!!!!!

Any credit whatsoever. He is everyone's boogeyman.
      Rightfully so!!!

Arum, has a history of flexing the truth and outright fabrication. Add to that, the notorious and consistent robbery of a good natured Manny and you have the makings of a first-class slime-ball.

The most recent meeting between both Floyd & Manny probably didn't help either, because now he has to go all in on the fight. And sideline his horrible habit of spewing unsubstantiated BS constantly to the press.

Well that's exactly the point. Why turn down that amount if the big money isn't there for a Mayweather rematch? it can only be the lure of the fight itself.

but the problem now on Floyd - Cotto 2 is the $$. Showtime won't give more money just for Cotto and the second one is Canelo-Kirkland on May 2nd. Showtime can't afford to compete on their PPV with floyd against FREE on HBO and its Canelo.

If Floyd-Cotto not on May2nd, then its clear duck of Floyd to Pac. He won't give up May 2nd to Pac but he is willing as long as its not Pac.

Sound economics argument. Goes against the philosophy behind that contract. According to Espinoza, Floyd's contract is beyond profit and loss.

LOL @ idiots on here saying Arum makes more money having Pac fight in-house because he gets two shares of promotional fees so that's why he's not making the Floyd fight...

Do some simple math... even if Arum gets both fighters' promotional percentage..

Pac is getting 40% of the biggest fight in boxing history that will pull in 3 million PPV buys and the biggest gate in history... Pac probably makes over $100 mil...

Arum getting the full promotional rights on anything that doesn't do at least half of that... he won't earn as much...

350K-700K PPV buys + smaller gate fights = way less money...

Besides, if Pac loses to Mayweather no one will care as the fight is already 3-5 years too late and Pac can go right to China and face Jessie Vargas/Lucas Matthysse next...

I think Arum's point is taken... so basically to interpret...

If Floyd v. Pac doesn't happen...

Both will fight bus boys next rather than fight a Cotto type fighter who would demand a big purse himself...

So I guess we'll see Floyd-Khan and Pac-Matthysse/Ruslan/Jessie Vargas next more likely than seeing...

                    Floyd-Cotto 2 and Manny Pac-Maidana/Khan

arum has been promoting fights since the damn 1960s.

people acting like pacquiao losing to floyd or him being left out on the negotiating will somehow financially break him or something lmfaaoooo

how many of the fab four king fights did arum produce?

floyd wont make or break arum. neither will losing pacquiao.

                      the 60s.
