Pretty much this.. Even if the numbers are true, nothing special or groundbreaking was done here. The bigger story is Mayweather failed to do over a million buys once again even while being a lightning rod of controversy all over the internet and mainstream sports media. To top that off, the event being the dud that it was does nothing for future buys unless Floyd fights another huge PPV star.

I wonder how many of the people that paid $75 were actually satisfied (entertained)with the fight. A real nutthuger would be happy with high numbers that don't mean a red cent to their pocketbook.

Schaefer is not a viable source, nor did he project anything.

He predicted that past fights would do astronomical numbers. The projections come from cable and satellite providers, who then pass along said info to relevant parties (network, promoters, etc.).

Schafer predicting a fight will do 2 million before a fight "based on early orders" is not the same as Showtime/Golden Boy/Mayweather Promotions claiming a fight has sold X amount based on projected reports from cable/satellite providers.

                Make sense?

I understand your hate for a man you don't know but use some common sense. Why would you want official numbers from Showtime, when the 'elephant' in the room are the providers (ATT,DirectTv and Dish)? You do know the providers make the most money(I hope you do since you spew nothing but hate)? So the providers would be the one counting their peanuts not Showtime.

The biggest crowds are always drawn when A. There is a Mexican holiday. and B. When there is a latin fighter

Let it be known here. As much as you guys want to believe Mayweather's B.S.

It has nothing to do with Mayweather. If it did he would fight at other dates against non latin fighters. And still do his so called "breaking numbers"
