Holyfield was clearly the bigger draw but no one wanted to fight Lewis at that time. Just watch his fight against a prime, motivated Mercer (who was as dangerous as it gets) and ask yourself who wanted to step in the ring with him.

was a rematch warrented? absolutely. it was a great, competitve fight. lewis won via stoppage.

was it a duck? of course not. he was ready to retire. he had money, and he never came back. it's a clear case of two fighters being in different eras, not a duck.
Nah, that's the point, he wasn't ready to retire until he had actually faced a Klitschko, then he thought he had better.

Why ruin a perfectly good thread with trolling?

Yeah, he showed his age that night. And realized it was best to quit while he was ahead. I guess Vitali can take credit for making Lennox go through retirement. And Lennox can take solace in stopping him.

He'd been out the ring for a year after the Tyson fight and had been contemplating retirement the whole time.

That's an opinion. Especially based off the fact that Lewis has less title fight wins for a lesser duration and has been flat knocked out twice while Wlad has never been starched stiff. I would say Wlad has a better jab and an equally great right hand.

Lewis also has less fat useless bums like Lepai and Mormeck on his resume so there's that.

What does it matter if Lewis was "flat knocked out" twice (he was stopped on his feet against McCall btw). Wladimir has been floored about 17 times and knocked out 3 times by far lesser opponents.

Wladimir modelled his whole style on Lewis expect he does a poor imitation of it. He can't fight on the inside AT ALL and can't throw uppercuts to save his life.

Lewis would dog the **** out of him and finish him. If that was Wladimir instead of Vitali against Lewis, Wlad would've been taken out in the first couple of rounds. Any version of Wlad.

All world champs have soft touches, Lewis was no exception. Wlad has faced the #1 challenger 4 times now and is about to do it for a 5th time during this reign. I see no problem with that.

Wlad always got up and was never punch drunk when he did. Lewis stumbled into the ref when the McCall fight was stopped. He was delusional and so are you if you don't agree.

Correction: Steward modelled his Lewis and Wladimir. Period.
Wlad was honing his style and it's become more effective than Lewis' was.
The proof is in the pudding.

Like I said, I agree with the old Wlad but not the new one. He's perfected his craft and I think Lennox would be made to pay to land his shots and either man could end up on the floor.

Just my opinion. Don't get worked up again.

Wlad gets knocked clean out by Lewis, early.

Everything Wlad does well, Lewis done it better. He's simply a far better fighter.
