Lennox Lewis - How good was he?

    1.) how good was he?

2.) would he have beat the Bowe that beat Holyfield in their 1st fight?

Possibly the best HW who has ever walked the Earth!

Between Lennox and the 2 K bros, all serious challengers are relegated to nothing more than "punchers chance". Some more than others.

It is almost impossible that any thing but a very hard puncher could upset Lewis.

Holyfield did well against him, but the Class A and Class B difference between them was obvious.

There are good chances that a different version of Tyson might have been able to take him out but so far that's only speculation. Tyson certainly has among the best punchers chance.

Most challenging test was/would be the technical giant boxer-punchers in the K-bros.

Rid**** Bowe? He MIGHT have been able to beat Lennox. Their Olympic fight proved that Rid**** could work Lewis good on the inside but that was ammys. Anyway LEwis won (although the stoppage was pathetic and Bowe was ripped off really).

But Bowe wasn't really as sharp as Lennox. I think Lewis would have won. Obviously so did Bowe and that's why we got the garbage incident.

The Rid**** Bowe duck of Lennox Lewis is the single most shameful and disgraceful event in boxing of all time shared equally with the Mayweather duck of Pacquiao!

I think he was a good boxer with underrated power. He deserves the credit he gets as he avenged his losses. I really do feel however had Bowe not ducked him he could have beat Lennox. The only thing that let me down was his miraculous luck against Vitali, Big VK didn't budge at all with Lewis's shots. He should have rematched VK.

          Yeah I agree x2...

Bowe vs Lewis would have been the "Super Fight" of the 90's. Bowe had great chances to beat LEnnox, he lost his nerve big time, that fight should have happened.

And yeah, his stars were shining against Vitali, he should have definitely rematched him there. But I will credit Lewis for atleast fighting Vitali in the first place, unlike Bowe.

Don't know about Lenny's power being "underrated" though, who says that?

I've quite commonly heard Lennox's Straight right, right uppercut and jab being rated the hardest of all time in that order. Personally I think, whilst not maybe totally true, they're right up there near the top.

Bowe would never have beat Lewis. He was a mental midget.

By some he's very overrated, by others underrated.

He could turn up and look like one of the best heavyweights in history vs top opponents like Golota, Grant, Tyson (to some extent), and he could stink the place out for real like he did against Mavrovic, Tua (which was like a sparring session for Lennox) and McCall 2, where he didn't get much resistance but in my opinion still didn't look sharp.

He had a middle period after Bruno and up to Golota where I don't think he looked that great. And it would have been in that time he would face Rid**** Bowe.

But people also tend to forget that Bowe was really only highly regarded as a pro in a very short space of time - he was "holyfields sparring partner" up until he beat him, and then his dedication went out the window. He had no desire to stay champ, he just wanted to become champ. But there's no denying Bowe's natural talents were up there with Lennox's if not exceeding them. But Lennox was 100 times more dedicated and wanted to become the undisputed champ.

Do I think the best Lennox beat the best Bowe? Yes.

If Lennox of the early 90's had faced Bowe from the early 90's, it's a close fight.

However, Lennox Lewis on his best day is one of the best fighters H2H in history I think. He had everything. When he was agressive, like against Golota, he looked so smooth and so menacing that I think he would have been hard to handle for everyone.

                    He's a top 10 heavyweight for me.
