We know Oscar would be fine with it, unfortunately only Oscar is doing all the talking and apologizing. Meanwhile Bob Arum's answer is ....Abregu.

I understand his line of thinking. It's similar to Golden Boy putting Broner (in a mismatch) on the Floyd undercard. They basically paid him over a million dollars and he didn't bring in many new viewers to justify the high salary.

I still think sometimes you should stack the card for the fans. Who doesn't want to see Manny and Donaire on the same card?

I don't like Koncz. He gives snakes a bad name.

If he really thinks Donaire on the undercard does not bolster PPV sales then he's absolutely clueless and shouldn't be anywhere near the discussion when it comes to making decisions.

Whilst Donaire won't boost filipino sales, there's the small matter of the rest of the f***ing world to consider. Boxing fans around the globe would chomp at the bit for a card with both Donaire and Pacquiao in it. There's a good portion who may just leave it be if it is only 1 or the other if Pacquiao isn't matched up with a megastar (and Marquez ain't it).

Funny thing is Arum flat out stated Broner is nobody and wouldn't even consider it, but he will bring out Abregu. Not saying Abregu is garbage (because I never seen him fight), but he doesn't come close to the star power of Broner. Broner is at 140, where Freddie wants Manny to go anyway, so why not Broner?

Oh well...Manny figures I get $20 mil no matter whom I fight, so I'm sure he doesn't care...definitely could have made more going to GBP...

Marquez is the only fight that Manny has any chance to have with Arum where he can make more than his guarantee...

Pacquiao and Koncz are just not good business men period...Koncz is clearly in Arum's pocket and there is a conflict of interest...it made no sense for Manny to resign with Top Rank at this point in his career...and even the contract before this one...
That $20 mil guarantee for six fights made perfect sense for him to resign, financially speaking. Pac is fading and he may not lose his next or his second but I don't see him being as dominant or entertaining in the last few of those six fights. Should he lose, he'll srruggle to sell 500k. The $20 mil per fight guarantees that he makes huge money, regardless of his opponent or his winning/losing. That's pretty good for an aging fighter

why they gotta hate on donaire like that? LOL.. even tho i agreed that putting donaire on the under cards is not gonna bring in any noticeable amount of money but the vibe and energy it gives off might be different. in return it might attract more fans in the future for both fighters.

he's right tho.. its not gonna bring in any noticebale amount of money compare to the amount they'll fight to pay donaire so it doesnt make sense business wise off top.

Whilst Donaire won't boost filipino sales, there's the small matter of the rest of the f***ing world to consider. Boxing fans around the globe Guillermo Rigondeaux chomp at the bit for a card with both Donaire and Pacquiao in it. There's a good portion who may just leave it be if it is only 1 or the other if Pacquiao isn't matched up with a megastar (and Marquez ain't it).
The fans that get these fights to 800k-1M buys are the casual fans. They don't give a damn about the undercard. They will buy the PPV for Mayweather or Pacquiao. So if you are taking that into account, it makes sense. If a guy can headline his own show, let him do it. Use the PPV undercard to introduce fans that do watch, to future or potential stars of the sport. I remember watching Manny on undercards before he blew up. Also remember watching Rigo on Pacman undercards and now hes regarded as one of, if not the top pure boxer in the sport.

I swear the people who defend Top Rank, just do it because of the whole Floyd and Manny thing. I dont accept Koncz's reasoning for not putting Donaire on the undercard. "He doesnt bring anything to the table" Thats just crap. This is the exact mindset Top Rank shares, not only Koncz, they dont care about us wanting to see a good fight card, just whatever generates the most money, they dont bother wasting money on undercard fights, and they say it in PUBLIC, they dont even hide this fact.. atleast Golden Boy gives us fight fans a treat with their cards... what does Donaire bring? excitement, maybe his Pinoy fans want to see BOTH of their favorites on one card, us fight fans want to see this. They could use this to give Donaire exposure for a possible PPV down the line but this just makes me think hes being cashed out.

same as floyd's undercard spots. It would be nice if you kept your thinking cap on all the time when you post. We get common sense posts like this rather than the grabage crap you posted in the other threads.
