Give him a hefty fine/withhold a portion of his purse etc) but a year ban is harsh (and yes I can't stand broner but unlike most here I try not to let my dislike for a fighter cloud my judgement)
I don't disagree with this but IMO this is what happens when you cry wolf. I'm going to say something that is going to piss some people off but I think we are OVERLY sensitive about blacks in America.

I'm not for one second saying that racism doesn't exist, that I pretend to understand what it's like to be black in America, but I think white guilt has reached an all time high.

I think if you mention the word black, you will be in big trouble by the PC crowd. Saying that, I think other races have reacted in the same way and now we live in this super PC environment where nobody can ever mention race period.

I personally don't think Broner is a racist, but I can see where people see what he said AS racist. If you can see the difference.

Again though, this is not about this one comment. He's said very racist things on twitter, had his run in's with the law and done a lot of really ignorant things that I think was a culmination of everything.

there is no such thing as a black race, that's for the 1% to control and divide the masses.

when caucasian people came to america they didn't call themselves white, after racism crept in you have the current situation.

calling me black is not offensive it just shows the person hasn't evolved much out of the black/white paradigm.

Absolutely fair. He needs to be taught a lesson on professionalism.

If Broner was where he was 18 months ago and still undefeated, they would never do that. Bloody hypocrites is what they are.

A bit ironic that in a "hurt sport" making a comment that might hurt someone's feelings gets you fined/suspended...

Can you imagine if someone actually did say something truly offensive... may god have mercy on his soul... the anti-racist sentinels are looming everywhere lol

Can you imagine what they'd do to Muhammad Ali with his views on race nowadays?

So you want to compare the 1960's to today, well that was idiotic.

So we shouldn't progress as a species on this planet, or should we just continue to accept racial biased, ignorance and bigotry?

"so the guy beat his wife and put her in the hospital, who cares back in the 12th century they would have just stoned her to death. She's lucky"

I'm not Broner fan (to say the least), but I view this as unfair. Broner talks a wall of ****** BS continuously. A lot of boxers, and their corners, talk a lot of ****** smack. If the governing bodies want to come up with a code of ethics and conduct to govern boxers, and their corners, great. It can do wonders. You don't want to take the smack out, but making people behave within certain loose bounds can't hurt. This just reeks of reactionary selectivity.

Turn it around for a second, what if kelly pavlik in the post fight conference after he beat Jermain Taylor, said I love beating up black people, then all black people would go ape **** and we would have 3 world war break out, seriously.

Black people need too ****ing lean, that the don't have a free card to being racist

Its like ******s in my country, if you catch them stealing, or you just don't agree with something , the first thing the say is you are a racist

                      Hypocrits
as a black man I would not be offended in the least if any fighter that beat a black man said I just beat a f'ing black man. now if that fighter was to replace black man with a N BOMB (we all know what I mean), then it would be an issue with me.
I'm not from Mexico so I have no clue how sensitive or not someone whose roots are from Mexico, would be about the statement that was made. but suspending AB for a year when he is in no position to have a title fight within the next year is pointless. it good PR for the wbo and wbc but it teaches no lesson at all.
as for your analogy of I love beating up black people - that could be deemed racist because you are expressing your lust/desire to harm people of a particular skin color. in fact if AB said I love beating up < insert race/color/or region here > that would be highly offensive to many of the race/region/or color and those that are not from the race/region/or color, to which I would agree has no place in our society at all.
