The reason is because Arum didn't agree with what Mayweather thought he was worth (understandable at the time) and wouldn't even entertain a DLH fight, which Mayweather wanted nore than anything. Mayweather bought out his TR contract and proved himself right and Arum wrong. He also never faced a TR fighter since. The closest he came to that was scuppered by TR over random testing (according to Roach).

yeah but what your forgetting to mention there is the fact that cotto had been brutally stopped against margarito and had the **** beaten out of him by pacman before floyd stepped up to the plate. people wanted him to fight cotto after floyd beat hatton.

You are from the U.K/Manchester I assume you are British, so I will excuse your ignorance of the facts you are presenting.

IN 2007 Cotto was under the Top Rank Banner and Mayweather was independent after buying out his Top Rank contract which Arum was trying to make him sign an extension to, but Floyd and him was battling each other while he was under Top Rank.

I applaud Oscar, Floyd, B-Hop, and Cotto, because they took their careers into their own hands, and out of the hands of Arum and Don King. Manny is going to end up like Tyson, Ali, Frazier, and Joe Louis, if he keeps fuc*ing with Bob Arum. I guess you don't care about Manny but I do.

all im saying is he could have fought those guys if he wanted to. if you want to go down as the best ever, then you have to fight the best. its as simple as that really. if your name is floyd mayweather, who would you rather on your resume? the guys i mentioned or guys like ortiz and guerrero?

Its as if you are suggesting he should have stayed with a promoter who acknowledged he was stealing from him and, since he left and didn't fight Margarito he can't call himself TBE, that, respectfully, is ridiculous. You know cotto's people chose not to pursue the fight. You know PWill lost to Quintana and you know, as roach confirmed, they chose not to fight floyd.

At some point, no matter how much floyd's antics cause you to despise him, reasonable fans have to let the facts drive their opinions.

The only reason people elevate pwill and Margarito is because they didn't fight floyd. Lets be honest, they were both highly ranked for a little bit. They fought each other. Margs lost and he dropped. Pwill lost his next fight to Quintana. Those losses effectively took them out of the big ww fight scheme of things. Is that fair, no. Its no different than Matthysse, Broner, Khan, Devon and other ww's now.

I agree, if you want fans to call you the best ever you have to earn that through who you fight. But he's beaten a number of guys fans said he wouldn't or couldn't and , unlike yourself, instead of giving credit they double down on pettiness.

Stop trying to find a small crevice to try and craft a valid arguement where there is none. It was ok for TR to do it, its ok for MP to do. If its an unfair business practice for one, than it is for both.

You don't think manny should have to leave simply because its Manny. I disagree. I think Manny is subject to the same conditions as any " b side" would be, and, more specifically, the conditions TR imposed on his opponents.
