Fitting the definition of the word fighter, means someone isn't a fighter? I'm going to once again say no on that matter. For the third time now, a fighter is someone who simply engages in a fight, so to that end anyone who engages in fights can be labelled a fighter.

What you wouldn't call someone is on you. The fact of the matter is they would be a doctor in their field of study. The same way someone who is not a professional could be called a fighter.
I don't think it's that simple or basic in regards to what it takes to be a fighter but that's me and I genuinely don't care either way.

Lee loses to some local third rate amateur strawweight.

Mike gets pissed off when Bruce tries a karate-chop to the collar bone, grabs Lee's head under his left arm and makes jello of Bruces face with his right.

        That

        is

        all.

Thats whats at the heart of this matter. Underlying a doubt of Bruce Lee's "credentials" is a wholesale contempt for martial arts altogether. Unfortunately, the martial arts have been diluted by idiots with mcdojos looking to score dinero off of little kids.. theres no substance to it anymore unless you find an authentic lineage school and even half of those are castoff charlatans. This is because Martial arts has been delegated to a past time since the advent of gunpowder as well.

Each culture and time had a different way for fighters to use their skills to make a living. The dilution of martial arts is mostly responsible for this image it has now but China for instance had fighters and warriors a thousand years before queen and marksbury rule boxing, and certainly before UFC. Martial arts has very real roots. As with most good things, you have to be able to sift through the chaff to get the good stuff in this day and age.

Altogether this assertion that people that arent official pro boxers or paid ufc guys cant fight, or cant be considered fighters, is a dim, from the sideline type of view. Some people simply choose to not compete in bloodsport, that does NOT mean they cant fight if their lives, loved ones, or honor is on the line. And that doesnt mean thats not what they trained their body and mind to do as their life's work should the need arise. 50000 applications of a technique are 50000 applications of a technique... whether hitting a heavy bag or working a wing chun dummy.

But I dont altogether blame people... this is a boxing site after all. Thats why I dont discuss no rules MA here hardly at all. I have learned that potency and accuracy, power, and effectiveness of technique can be respected no matter what form its shown in. But, maybe thats just me..eh?

Another mismatch thread. Bruce would have a good chance against a boxer in his own weight class in a street fight. Against a HW it wouldn't even be close and Bruce would end up in a coma. There are weight divisions in professional fighting for a reason.

Who the Fk banned Alex for making this thread?

                david beat goliath, no?

seriously, happy to note this thread got this far....

but as in my earlier post here, no rules? then there are a lot of grey areas or uncertainties... mike can't uppercut a guy on the ground ready to kick him on the knees or groin...and on a street fight setting? whew!!! to much variables

                  Yeah..Precisely.

I wouldn't call someone who isn't a practising doctor a Doctor just as I wouldn't call someone who isn't a professional fighter a fighter either.

                  Simple stuff.
Mike Tyson said Bruce Lee was a killer. So I agree to say Bruce lee was just a fighter is too simple.

People saying Lee would do this and that have never seen him fight. They're going off of stories from his friends. There's also plenty of people saying he wasn't a fighter like Chuck Norris. Lee was a teacher at best as far as we know for certain. Being a good teacher doesn't necessarily mean he was a good fighter. As we know with boxing trainers being a perfect example.
