I do believe that Martinez looks really good against slow fighters. He can showcase his speed and athleticism.

Martinez looks less spectacular against more technical boxers who have good footwork.
Cotto doesn't have the height or reach to pull off what Murray and Barker did. Cotto tries to box Martinez on the outside, Martinez will potshot him all night long. And Martinez is hard to hit cleanly. It just so happens that he tripped over Macklin's foot and was off balance against Murray. Specifically, Martinez is really hard to hit cleanly with a left hook, which is Cotto's best punch. Cotto doesn't have a good right hand, which is the weapon that works best against Martinez. All Martinez has to do is follow the Trout blueprint. Straight left to the body, right hook around the guard, foot movement, moving to his left, and keep the jab in Cotto's face.

All Cotto has to do is box and counter the bigger guy and the fight is simple. I think you overrate Sergio's speed by comparing him to Pacquiao. Sergio just looks amazingly fast because he's fighting guys that are much slower. Cotto is the fastest guy Sergio has had to fight in a long long time. Cotto has the best footwork that Sergio has ever had to deal with. If Sergio can't keep up with Cotto due to his legs being shot then it'll be a long night for him.

Sergio is not and never was a technically sound boxer. He uses a mix of speed and athleticism to go along with a southpaw stance and an unorthodox style. Cotto is by FAR the more accurate puncher.

Size does not guarantee victory. Whoever imposes their style better will win. Unfortunately for Sergio I don't think he can impose himself anymore since he's on the decline made worse by a major injury.
Great post, keepimg it real! Green K!

If Martinez is Martinez, this can get ugly.

But judging from his last fight he isn't.
