I can't see this fight getting many PPV buys regardless of how well Mayweather sells, Ill be tuning in but can't see loads of others paying for the fight.

I'm wondering if Showtime will be able to cover the guarantee they're giving Floyd.

I don't think there's any boxer out there who could put an L on Floyd's resume but some people are heavily underrating Maidana.

Maidana gets no respect but he earns it in the ring time and time again. You can't claim to know boxing and turn around and say Maidana has not drastically improved under Garcia, and you can't sit there and tell me fighters can't improve after every fight, even after different training camps.

No one here I see is trying to argue against Floyd's level of skill or gap between his nearnest competitor (no one respected on NSB anyway), but to suggest that Maidana isn't one of Floyd's more dangerous opponents is just asinine. The whole "he's a slow plodding one dimensional fighter, another zzz UD" is so cliche and played out at this point, people just sound foolish saying it. The window to beat Floyd is more open now than ever before regardless of who he is facing (within reason), I expect a great fight, we might even see Floyd in a war.

happy for maidana to get a big payday...he will not win (and i mean not win a single round) but i think he has paid his dues to get compensated in millions.

maidana simply can not compete with guys who can box and move. say whatever you want about him improving his game but his style is still the same, and that style is only effective against opponents who will trade with him. his wins at welter were soto karass, lopez, broner...all fought to maidana's strength...in a shootout western style (no defense). guys he had a hard time with like alexander, kotelnik and khan, all gave him something to think about...well, maybe with the exception of khan who just tried to overwhelm him with fast combos. still, khan didn't just stand in front of maidana and trade.

that makes maidana an underdog against welters who can box and move like bradley, thurman and porter...and even alexander in a rematch. so what are his chances against floyd who is the master of defense and box and move style? let's just say we're happy maidana is getting handsomely paid.

Anyone else see that they have Broner vs. Collazo on the Mayweather undercard on boxrec.

That's a very tricky matchup for Broner especially coming off that brutal fight against Maidana.

bradley was battered around the ring and arguably lost by good margin to an ESPN fighter recently but nobody thinks twice about pac-bradley II.

both fighters have won significant fights since their losses but maidana still gets crapped on for some reason.

Because Soto-Karass, Lopez and Broner are not the same caliber of fighter as Pac, Provo and JMM, that's why no one has a problem with Pac-Bradley 2
No one is *****ting on Maidana, he just doesn't have much of a chance to beat Floyd.

This one will be ducked by many. Excellent post, a very intelligent assessment of the situation as opposed to the superficial and trollish opinions that most throw around.

It wasn't ducked, this was posted 2 post after.
Glad you guys believe in Maidana, but he's not winning this fight.
