Thing is time is running out for May 2nd, and even if viable that's a lot to sort out and we're 90% sure on Floyd fighting on May 2nd.

If Top Rank are cut out, who promotes the fight? Mayweather Promotions aren't equipped to stage one of the biggest fights in history, Golden Boy again?

It just raises more questions than answers at a time when many believed the fight were close.

If they can get it sorted, great but I think scepticism is more warranted than optimism, it's been 5-6 years of the same.

Weebler-nothing in the US matters until Monday after the superbowl. Fans outside the US have to understand and accept that. I can understand why it wouldn't be announced until afterward. Other than the SB, this is the biggest sporting event in 2015 since there is no summer Olympics or world cup.

Good point but one that can be easily overcome. This fight doesn't need a promoter as much as others. you just need the professionals in place to handle media events.

these are important questions but not ones IMO that have any bearing on the status of the fight. they can easily be worked out.

Showtime wants it for sure on May 2nd because it leaves space for a possible rematch before the contract expires with FM. If MP wins or if it's a close points decision to FM there will be a rematch in September. That's hundreds of millions over two fights. No doubt showtime/CBS wants it bad. Must be an insane amount of pressure on the people doing the contracts and negotiations.
The more I think about it - I say they will fight May 2nd.

Inquiring minds want to know....When Floyd and his entourage left was there anything missing..towels...silverware...robes? Did his bodyguard attempt to eat Manny? Did they force Koncz to go down on Floyd before he would agree to the fight?

Even after the great news that they met face to face and PERSONALLY exchanged numbers and what not... and then they met at pacs hotel to discuss some more im guessing.... i cant believe it but THERE ARE PEOPLE STILL COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS!!!??? Easily overcome that? Haha do you understand what goes into making a fight? Yeah lets hire a few people with TMT shirts, and the fight will make itself. Why would you cut out TR? I don't understand this prospect. They have everything in place to do this right. So pay even MORE for something that you don't need... yeah that makes total sense.

I don't think people are complaining as much as exhibiting a cynicism about the fight actually getting made...I think people are a little leery of trusting Floyd at this point and are waiting for the bad news to drop...glass half empty when it comes to the fight at this point...still a fan...

I will only respond to you once because your agenda is clear. My post is saying once the fight is signed, who handles the lead promotion is not a major issue. Promotion would be handled as it has for all Floyd fights. Professionals was referring to, for example, those people who left GBP when schaffer left who actually do the work behind the scenes. They can be hired to handle media etc.

You cut out TR because Floyd doesn't want to work with Bob given the history. If you feel otherwise, fine.

You have no idea if it costs more or less so don't act like you do.

If the fight gets made without Bob-just like Floyd v cotto-then get Bob the hell out of the way so we as fans get the fight we want.

If they're meeting to discuss making the fight happen then there is no chance of them fighting in May. It's been reported for weeks that both sides had already agreed on all terms so what else was there for them to discuss? I'm hoping they were just clearing up some of the rumors Pac's side been spreading and or how to do the promotion.

Bottom line just cause they met doesn't mean fight is happening.
