He isnt the only rich idiot, im sure you can name a few. I could care less about his wealth and success, he isnt the only reason why he has it.

I bet you would promote Rigondeaux better than he could. How can a promoter complain about doing what the name of their title entails....PROMOTE
    The key word was 'business'.

Professional boxing is a business, no one cares if you've got a guy that could beat the best if he does it in a fashion that is deemed 'boring'. Don't be surprised if Rigondeaux fights another Arum fighter and is robbed down the line...

and if you cant handle your business...let someone else do it. I for one one dont care about a ho hum journeyman who is entertaining who cant beat a contender. what would you rather be? A boring champion or an entertaining journeyman?

Id rather be the best than beloved or liked.

Arum is only a part promoter of Rigo. He is also the most successful all time in turning fighters into Stars. In order to sell though you also need a product that has appeal. Rigo is partly to blame for this, as well as a fickle public.

Rigo also has to do his part if he keeps wanting million dollar paydays. Bob is not in the business to lose money, nobody is.

This TS is assuming that Golden Girl Schaefer will rescue the boring Rigondeux.

"You look at a Marcos Maidana, a Josesito Lopez, a Danny Garcia, a Lucas Matthysse, an Amir Khan, a Canelo, a Kirkland, an Angulo, and the list goes on and on. That's what the fight fans and the TV networks want to see. They are very invested in winning and losing, but they want to see exciting fights. It used to be a for a long time, that you had to go back in line and start over again. That's not the case anymore. Josesito Lopez, just because he lost - it doesn't mean he goes back to the end of the line, he's right back in the mix. I think up until a few years ago that's' not the way boxing worked. I think we took a page out of the UFC's playbook, because with the UFC excitement is rewarded," Schaefer said to krikya360.com

"I think TV networks, at least Showtime, is rewarding excitement as well. When you see a fight like a Rignodeaux or a Gamboa - they don't have very crowd pleasing styles. And I think as a result it makes them much more difficult to sell, and it has nothing to do with promoting."

Including of Ward, Mayweather, and Hopkins this guy is a master of his craft.

Arum in his comfy confines of being a promoter got used to a fighter having a certain demographic that sold. DLH was mexican-american, a heart throb, a puncher etc. so with or without Arum he was gonna be a huge draw. Same for Pacquiao who had a country on his back, a fan friendly style and heart and natural gifts.

How the hell do you have two skilled guys like Mayweather and Rigondeaux and hold them back or dont know what to do with them. Mayweather did everything he said he was gonna do when he left Arum. Break records, make absurd amounts of money, and fight Cotto, Mosley, DLH who Arum prevented him from fighting. G.R. has a decision to make.

If I am a true world champion, one of the most skilled in my sport, would I listen to a guy that has not been a fighter tell me to change what isnt broke? Hell no!!! I bet if he goes to Golden Boy or other top promo companies, they will promotes his skill, and class and not downplay him as being entertaining or not
Arum knew what he was getting when he signed rigo. So it seems very hypocritical to complain about how his style makes it difficult to market him.

It seems arum saw value in him as an "opponent" for his bigger draws. when Rigo humiliated Nonito, and thus became an "a side", Arum seemed to have no plan to market rigo in that position.

Arum and Goodman (same as schaeffer and gomez with Lara) need to do their jobs by finding opponents for rigo and promoting rigo as an "a side" to the fans, rather than whining about how difficult it is and asking rigo to change.

as if it's all up to arum...if the networks doesn't wanna bankroll a rigo fight what can arum do?

arum has actually done a good job promoting rigo...he put him in a couple ppv cards and got him a title fight in just a few fights.

and then you have keyboard warriors calling him an idiot

He'd be an idiot to let him go without trying to get those belts first

He aint letting Rigo go when Rigo made him sign to co promote with Rigo's other promoter.

The money HBO offer is where Rigo will get his paydays, so he best be fan friendly. Rigo alone won't fill 10K seats and get more than 1 mil viewers. Arum has done a great job when Rigo has had so little fights...

Top Rank is a company that has created many careers of fighters from Pac, Delha Hoya to Mayweather Jr, and even Evil Kanevil, Muhammad Ali etc...

With a 750k purse in his 11th fight. Donaire was a 3 division champ and Ring p4p for like 3 years before he ever made that much.

Very true. He made his first $1 million under TR. Mares, in comparison, who is 10 times exciting got his first $300K in the Mayweather undercard. Very huge difference.

That's how it will look like under GBP/Showtime.
