I think it's time someone took a serious look at the correlation between concussions suffered during contact sports (ie. Boxing) and depression. These fighters need help and council

they are doing it in the NHL. several NHL enforcers have commited suicide the last few years after years of depression & too many punches to the head. after they retire it seems they spiral down hill. is it the concussions causing the depression? it seems like it's only the really physical guys whose role is that of the enforcer. pain killers for injuries, depression, retirement, etc.. junior seau is another example. a couple years after he retires from a HOF career he kills himself. he had everything but still took his own life...

It's bad enough when a rowdy hot headed mate goads you by hitting you, asking to fight back, let alone your own family. That would mess with your head.

I wonder if his dad apologised and it was a turning point in their relationship.

Im not familiar with the NHL but from what ive see those guys might as well forget the sticks and skates and just glove up because they like to rumble!

In boxing only of late we have had Darren Sutherland, Johnny Tapia, Frank Bruno, a UK journeyman named Billy Smith killed himself recently after his brother another journeyman did the same a few years ago, Ricky Hatton, Mike Tyson, Alexis Arguello and the list just go's on and on.....

Now i understand that a lot of boxers come from under priveleged backgrounds and bring a lot of their own issues to the table but the link between concussion and depression is very reall.

The Hattons don't shoot each other, and Ricky has never been sent to prison for beating his wife.

Bloody hell it should have been a wake up call for Ricky to realise he was truly shot when a 60 year old 5'5 guy with no fighting experience whatsoever can catch you with a punch
