Merchant is travelling thousands of miles to commentate on a guy who is 1-0 but doesn't think it's worth HBO televising someone who just beat one of the most highly regarded fighters in the sport and who fights in the US.

filipinos said the same thing bro.....

doanire and pac beat mostly mexicans because there is 100x more mexican boxers than the 3 cubans have.

i understand cuban dont have the freedom yet to watch their boxers here in the US

      its a sad situation

vives en miami? youll see that cubans dont support gamboa...rigo or lara

i think your in over your head about cubans being #1 in boxing i like rigo but didnt gambia get dropped by that no name filipino guy and did nothing against that colombian?

lara is lucky Angulo has NO defense. his jaw got exposed.

I do think cuba has very talented athletes and hope fidel goes away soon so we can see more in the us mainstream. especially in baseball....they will take over the dominicans i think. In boxing will bring more competition to mexican mexican american argentine boricua filipino and american boxers.

Canelo DETROYS LARA..i actually wanted that before the money fight but oh well

I would like to see Lara fight gabe rosado

but cubans especially in miami really need to step up and support their fighters. Even mayorga had his nicaraguan fan base.......

HBO wouldnt pull the plug on rigo if his people (cubans) would bring the money

You see, it's not about the business for the fans. For HBO it is. What I'm wondering is how HBO came to the conclusion that Rigo is boring so fast. Was the Rigo-Donaire fight THAT boring to HBO execs?

I could see if you tried promoting him, and there was no public spark. HBO has not even seriously tried yet. HBO does not rely on boxing to keep it's network alive which is why they got rid of who they got rid of.

HBO wants to change it's image of their boxers, so they got rid of the big mouths of the sport I guess. Cool. If you kept Rigo, why not try and promote him. HBO sees no fanbase for Rigo, but why not try to create one? Pacquiao and Donaire fans, your opinions are not warranted.

That's something i have said before and it's a huge part of the cause which Cuban fans don't seem to acknowledge. If the Cuba diaspora filled arenas with 10,000 people like the Polish do in New Jersey for Adamek none of this would be an issue.

Why not bring Rigo's next fight to Florida as an encore in front of his Cuban brethren. Try something, anything!

I don't think Arum has really even tried to have Rigo fight in south Florida. At least throw a few shows on for him there before you say he can't draw.

Put Gamboa on the undercard and I bet they can pull a nice crowd.

I live in PR and I pay for the fights, but without the fan base of the people in the island will be hard to compete. Cubans in Miami are not huge in numbers and the one who came during the last 20 years (the majority) only think in send money to the family back in Cuba. I believe is the same to Mexicans in US, but in Mexico there a lot of professionals, doctors, people with better salaries that are able to support them.
Try to understand that what I'm criticizing for Mexicans is the style that so many here are proud of. I'm trying to refer to this style that most of then have of receiving a lot of punches because they are extremely strong and resistant but with no defense. I don't think this is good boxing. Of course one of those Mexicans can win a fight with one punch but at what cost. Angulo is a extremely strong fighter, and personally, I like him a lot. I don't think is worthy this fighter may have to almost loose an eye for me be entertained.
Probably Canelo wins over Lara, but not a easely as he have won in the past. Personally I believe that Lara can make a smart fight like Rigondeaux made and win over the favorite. I still believe that a smarter fighter can win over the one who only have physical endurance. I prefer to see a Angulo strong man be trained with a different style and you may see what may happen

Is Arum the guilty. HBO was televising Rigos fight until he won over Donaire. After his better archievement he is boring now. They don't want him to continue winning others champions.
So boxing now is not for the better boxers who win. This is a democracy where only can fight the one elected by the crowds. This is a beuty contest where you call and vote. so no other people now want Rigo belts, so he will retire in 5 years without contender. Arum in ****** in his excuses, because for sure so many wants his belts. Why Arum don't release Rigo then instead of fight with Caribe promotions to retain Rigo as he did?

Another thing, Arum never brought to Miami a fight, so is unfair to continue say anyway that Rigo is not able to fill a place in a fight in Miami. At least do it once and then use it as excuse, but this is not the case with Arum and Rigo in Miami

They don't allow me to post you the medals table for instance of the Olympics at Barcelona 92, but google it and see what I say. Before any Phillipino or MExican or Puerto Rican went to US to play Cubans did. Cuba had boxing champions in the 1930's. The Cuban regime was the one who extract them for every payed competition.
Now they are defeating more often like Rigo did, without his family. Is a big prize but so many of they are doing this. Before march people like you believe Donaire will crush Rigo. Now you say the same of Lara. After Canelo lose with Maywerather he will be forced to fight Lara and we will see.

philippines had pancho villa in the 1920's and im pretty sure mexico had people too considering they have a very rich history in boxing
