Not at middleweight but at 154. Floyd, Cotto, Mosley and the rest of the so called PPV draws wanted no part of Martinez back then. That's why Martinez moved to 160.

Floyd's best option after getting a ud over canelo would be undefeated bradley, then winner of Garcia vs Matthyse ....and maybe Devon if he stacks two good wins

Actually, Martinez moved to 160 because a fight between Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik fell apart and he was called in as a late replacement. He and Williams had a FOTY candidate with a somewhat controversal decision that demanded a rematch. He proceeded to take the middleweight title from Pavlik and then got his rematch with Williams, which launched him to P4P stardom. It was then he started being talked about as a potential opponent for the welterweight stars. During his tenure at 154, he was never discussed as an opponent for Floyd or anyone else in the welterweight division. But those are mere triflin facts. Don't let me be a pipedream killer.

Even if Canelo loses, a fight with Martinez at 154 would be awesome. If not, Cotto vs. Martinez at 154 would be cool too!

After being rank by the WBC since 2005, he work his way up the rankings to become DLH's mandatory by winning a title eliminator back in 2007 to face the winner of DLH v. Mayweather.

May went back to 147 and Martinez was ignored once again by the WBC when Vernon Forrest and Baldomir were given the opportunity to fight for Floyd's vacant title. Forrest fought for the belt three more times as Martinez was left ignored and given a chance to just fight for the interim belt.

Seeing that nobody would give him a shot he takes on Williams loses in a controversial decision. The Pavlik v. Williams fight falls and he jumps at the only opportunity he had left.

Yet boxing fans who are aware of what goes on know that Martinez name was being tossed around since 2008 after looking impressive against Bunema and in his controversial draw with Cintron. Forrest wanted no part of him and neither the rest of the 154 champions. it was another avoided fighter like Williams who gave him a shot.

After winning the 160 title he constantly called out any champ from 147 to 160 with nobody answering the call.

Floyd is in a situation where a million PPV buys just isn't gonna cut it any more. He needs to be around 1.5M for this deal to successful for Showtime. And he's also in a situation where the people that order his fights aren't gonna pay to see him fight someone that they don't think can beat him. And there's nobody at 140 or 147 that people are gonna think can beat him. People will think a larger opponent can beat him. Plus, Floyd knows Martinez is gettable right now. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the route Floyd went.
Floyd already cherry-picked a faded Cotto he can't cherrypick a faded Martinez too (he won't anyway imo, SM is still dangerous).
