Right. But Sergio is far from 85%.

I'd bet money on that. Floyds a genius at making it look as if he's fighting stars when he's actually carefully cherry picking. Expired champs, slow fighters with a low KO rate, 22 year olds with no experience. Martinez would have KO Murray just two years ago, now he barely kept his belt.
Floyd knew better than to fight Martinez in his prime or even a couple years ago. Now, older, injured, Floyd can win a UD or even maybe a KO and say he beat a true champ when he's really beating the shadow of what the man once was. Martinez has a crippled hand, and a knee with limited movement. All that keeps him fighting is a fighter's heart.

He proceeded to take the middleweight title from Pavlik and then got his rematch with Williams, which launched him to P4P stardom. It was then he started being talked about as a potential opponent for the welterweight stars. During his tenure at 154, he was never discussed as an opponent for Floyd or anyone else in the welterweight division. But those are mere triflin facts. Don't let me be a pipedream killer.
You should also remember that he fought the Williams rematch at a catchweight of 157 and was quite comfortable with moving back down to 154 to face Mayweather or Cotto. The Pavlik fight was a great opportunity for him but it wasn't like he'd planned to move to 160 all along. It was just too big a fight to turn down.

And if its Canelo, he would be fighting a top 5 P4P'r (if he beats Floyd.) GGG's best win will be Macklin, and he won't even be on the P4P radar.
It's obvious that Martinez needs a big payday before retirement.
Golovkin doesn't bring money on the table.
But in case FM Jr. vs Alvarez fight will be a thrill, I suspect they will prefer a rematch.
I'm afraid Martinez will have to take Chavez Jr. again or leave the sport.

Sergio just needs to be healthy.

If he can get his knee back together it will help him bring back the speed and power that was clearly not there last time out. If he can do that and safely make 154, he beats Canelo.

He is going to make the middleweight challengers wait a year while he heals up and then go to 154? He is not being a good middleweight champ. The winner of Mayweather-Canelo will have better paying fights than Martinez waiting for them. If GGG KOs Macklin tonight and Martinez still won't fight him then this fight fan will recognize GGG as the best middleweight in the world and the real champ because he does not duck tough contenders. GGG would fight guys like Geale and Quillin unlike Martinez.

There is no way in hell that Lou Di Bella wouldn't be interested in a Mayweather fight.
