Both Golovkin and Martinez are MW's. Hopkins was a LHW that Joe beat, not only a major difference in talent but in weight.
Martinez just in many people's eyes lost to Murray, come on Martinez might be A level of his division but slipping fast and is a MW and not that big of one to start with.

those who don't like Joe keep saying that I will say agaian like I have said on here before - when Joe fought Lacey- Mayweathr and Pac
All the evidence points to JC being only slightly post prime when he fought Jones, Kessler and Hopkins. Kessler and Lacy were his best defences so that's his prime, that's the only way you can read it.
I'm not saying everyone he fought was a bum, Bika can **** and pressure like anyone, Reid is a clever little boxer for instance but when its overwhelmingly bums for a decade (A DECADE, jeez, English champions have better streaks) then how can you argue its better than Frochs string of fearsome opps.

Ring ****zine have also rated Joe as one off the best so this is not just comuing from me.

i cant believe im reading this! ok carl, back to earth...joe calzaghe=unbeaten. unmatched.
fought the best that was there and moved up to beat the great bernard hopkins easily and finished with a fight he chased since dethroning chris eubank. unmatched.
exciting as you are i can name atleast three fighters of recent yrs who were more exciting...
nigel benn, naseem hamed and ricky hatton.
weve had million dollar entrances, multiple knockdowns, upsetting the odds, back from the brink and all sorts but, one thing we all know carl froch has for sure.....Huge balls and heart and comes to fight.
thar will never be disputed.
