I didn't even know that. I like him at '26, maybe '30. He has the size. I'm sure he's outgrown '22 at this point. But there's a lot for him at '26 and he'd be better off not wearing himself thin trying to make '22--besides, he already fought the best at '22 and it wasn't close.

I'd pick him to beat Donaire at '26 or higher.

I'd like to see him at 126 too, I'm not sure what this catchweight is about though. I don't see why they don't do it at 126 myself unless he struggled to make the weight & is looking at a potential move to 130?

IMO, his work at 140 and his style rivals the other "fringe" elite fighters like khan, canelo, bradley, etc....

i think he is THE man at 140....

if lucas is a "limited fighter", so is everyone not named Floyd Mayweather Jr, you guys are just ignorant. it's laughable. he slips and parries, moves his head, the only downsides to his game that I have problems with are that he loads up on damn near every punch when he's at range

nobody (in the GBP stable not named FMJ) at 140 can take advantage of that. Don't say Broner either, he hasn't proven **** at 140.

This. Matthysse is actually a good boxer imho, but his mentality is that of a fighter. He's coming in the ring to stop his opponent, and there are problems that can arise with having such a mind-frame, like over-committing on shots. He has flaws that pressure fighters tend to have, but he's shown that he's capable of overcoming them.

Where did you get that statistic? He was 153 for his fight against Judah and Dallas... I think he's weighed in over 150 for all of his fights since Harris. Where everyone is getting this whole, he might not be big enough for welterweight parroting is hilarious. If he comes into the ring as a JMW from a '40-pound contest, chances are, he's walking around at '60. Hopkins is sitting there doing interviews saying he hits like a middleweight. I'm sure if he fights a puncher at welterweight, he probably won't just smile and walk through it, but I'm certain he could take some shots from guys like Malignaggi, Bradley, Alexander, and even Mayweather (especially with a track record of hand injuries).

A guy coming in ten pounds over the limit is actually just below average these days. It's really not very much at all. Think of Pac coming in up near the welterweight limit when he was just a SBW/featherweight. That's twice what Matthyse gains.

Coming in at 150 as a JWW isn't anything and at 5'6" he's just a normal, decent sized guy there. Pac is as big, if not bigger and he's thought of as small at 147. Hell, he was bigger than Hatton and Hatton was considered a good size at 140 so surely Matthyse coming in at 150 and being 5'6" isn't much, especially these days.

I'm laughing at you because you're saying pac is possibly bigger than Matthysse, while simultaneously stating you never said he was small for welterweight. Worst ideology. Especially considering the fact that pac hasn't weighed-in over 150 on fight night for any of his fights thus far.

So no, Matthysse isn't just a decent sized '40-pounder, he's much bigger than most of the guys in his division. Decent sized '47, perhaps, but he may re-hydrate higher in weight on fight night there as well.
