Coming forward to try making a brawl is the wrong way to go about it. Pavlik with his limited boxing skill was able to win what 2-4 rounds while JCC Jr couldn't.

Macklin did much better than he should have when he was able to make things a boxing match.

It's was when he started opening up by left hooking in effort to keep Sergio away that he got ****ed up.
On the contrary. Watch the Darren barker fight. When Sergio was trying to play the sit back, counter punch role, he got picked apart early. If you have a tight defense and a good jab and straight, with effective pressure, it can stifle Martinez. It wasn't until barker got tired, that Martinez started putting it on him. Same with Macklin. But those are big big guys, Floyd wouldn't have the size to effectively pressure him.

        ...and I loooooove Sergio.

Would you ever - EVER - see Mayweather looking like that in a 12th round of a fight he just dominated?
vs a cruiser, yep. I'd be shocked if he lasted to the 12.

Martinez' ring IQ is not even close to Mayweather's.

You also seem to forget, Paul Williams isn't your normal fighter. The dudes style is to brawl and wear you out, while having an iron chin. I'm not saying brawling is the key to beat Martinez, of course not. I'm saying Paul Williams was effective, because that's the type of fighter he is. If you box with Marti ez, your going to get hit, you just need to be much bigger than him to absorb the shots.

I watched that fight too. Neither of those guys were brawling with Martinez when they had success.

Macklin did better than Barker though

It's possible to box and pressure someone at the same time.

If I had to choose between the two when fighting Martinez though, I'd box him. It makes it much harder for him to hit me.

Martinez had a tough time landing on Macklin while he was able to hit Chavez Jr with whatever he wanted

Did you read my post? I was referring to you saying Sergio is most effective sitting back and countering. I think he's most effective mixing in smart brawling with moving around and pot shotting.

Sitting back and countering is Floyd's style.
