And just to stress a point, severely dehydrated fighters will show fatigue and discomfort in the later rounds, thus will be more at a disadvantage in the 2nd half of the match, but Cotto as early as the first 6 rounds already suffered 2 knockdowns and was already at a retreat in most part of the succeeding rounds. So dehydrated or not Cotto will still loose that match against Manny...
So dehydrating only affects a fighter in the second half of a fight? Do they flip a switch and turn dehydration mode on? Your arguments are weak.

I remember he wrestled a kid at a tournament and lost to him and it was very obvious he was weight drained. My brothers strength and stamina just wasn't there. About a week later the 2 pound weight allowance kicked in and it was much easier for him to make weight. He wrestled the kid again in the championship of another tournament and completely dominated winning like 12-2. He was fast, very explosive and his stamina looked great.

I'm not saying Cotto was drained or not or the catchweight affected his performance but I am saying that the last pound or two "can" affect a athlete that is already struggling to make weight.
Anyone with a bit of common sense knows this, it's a shame Pac fans lack it.

That's why in pro boxing you are given 24 hrs to rehydrate back lost fluids...

Sometimes 24 hrs isn't enough time. Look at Oscar, he was taking IVs in the locker room right before the fight with Manny.

You just have to watch the fight, Cotto was very competitive in the first 2 rounds and then got the knockdowns in the 3rd and 4th round, but got competitive again i think by the 6th round, so you are saying Cotto is only healthy in those competitive rounds and in the other rounds he is not??!!! WTF!!!

The Manny fight was Oscar's mistake, he underestimated Manny and overestimated himself to handle the change in weight... The circumstances were totally different from the Cotto fight...

                  Interview right after the fight.

"what was the difference in the fight?"

                  - Cotto - I couldn't see his punches .... I didn't know where those punches were coming from!!!!

What don't you get? These are Cotto's own words not mine. Cotto said the difference was Manny's speed and the angles that those punches came from .

Most people would get it especially when you hear it from Cotto himself ..... you just need to watch the fight and you would realize what Cotto is saying.

I agree the circumstances were different in those fight but I was just pointing out 24 hrs isnt always enough time. You responded to my first post in which I clearly said I don't know if Cotto was drained or if he was affected by the weight but a pound or two "can" have an effect on some athletes like the poll asked.

Cotto stans are the biggest sore losers in the history of NSB.
