Why would any boxing fan not want to see Floyd-Martinez.

I guess when they're not actually boxing fans.
I think everyone would welcome and watch the Martinez bout.

But the fact that the Floyd detractors are now acting like it's "mandatory" that FLoyd fight Martinez in order to "seal his legacy" (whatever that means) is pretty hilarious.

Fighting and beating Martinez is A LOT better than fighting and beating Canelo.

Martinez is the true MW champion and has wins over Pavlik, Williams, Macklin, etc and is universally recognized as top 10 P4P.

Canelo won a paper title against an unranked boxer in the 154 division (Hatton) and has wins over old shot Cintron, the almighty Rhodes, the magnificent Gomez and if he wins his next fight then the again old and terribly shot Mosley.

Beating a top 10 or even top 5 pound for pound boxer like Martinez is a lot better than beating Canelo.

that is such a biased poll it is sickening

now all of a sudden Canelo is not a worthy fight? are you kidding me?

Canelo is just as good a fight for Floyd as Bradley is for Manny

so it's ONLY on Floyd to fight Martinez next if it isn't Pacquiao? it's not on Pacquiao to fight Martinez next if it isn't Floyd?

you fan boys need to just peek your head up and take a look at the other side of the fence

Floyd isn't fighting twice this year, he will fight the earliest would by in May of 2013. But, more than likely his next fight will be September of 2013.

                I don't think he's fighting in 2012 again either.

Since Martinez is the true middlweight champ he should pick on guys his own size...

Let him call-out Ward at a catchweight..since he's so great..

WW's don't owe middleweights a damn thing..especially middlweights that have done NOTHING.

Macklin and Barker...pulled right from the seats...

                    Paul Wiliams...a WELTEWEIGHT

Kelly Pavlik...was still wearing Hopkin's boots in his as.s

                    Fu.ck

                    Sergio

                    Martinez

WHY AREN'T YA'LL PUSHING FOR PAC TO FIGHT SERG...?????????????

                    Hmmmm..

Why would anybody move up two weight classes to fight a guy who brings very little to the table in terms of marketability who is much bigger than you, instead of fighting a guy just one weight class above you who brings a lot more to the table and is a much easier fight? That would just be ******. Floyd has proven himself over and over again. He has no reason to fight Sergio Martinez. His legacy is already secure and with or without Pacquiao and Martinez he is still going to go down as by far the greatest boxer of this era and one of the greatest in the history of the sport. He could fight Victor Ortiz again and he would still probably make more money than fighting Martinez because of Ortiz's Mexican fanbase.

Floyd is absolutley right when he says that he can't win with his critics and haters. Whoever he beats, there is always an excuse, and after he beats them there is always someone else around the corner who they claim he is "ducking". People need to accept the reality that he is entitled to fight whoever he wants and as boxing fans we should all appreciate that he always fights top competition, when they are on top of their game, on an even playing field. Which is a lot more than we can say for Manny "Stipulation-Man" Pacquiao.
If mayweather held to only one angle o his career (the money angle) I would side with him and cry foul on folks who criticize his choice of opponents. However, he flip flops on the ideal of money-making vs. legacy. He compares himself greater than hall of famers, but he also has to remember that HOF's carried their competetive edge (opponent-wise) well into their careers. He can be criticized for not having done that so much since coming back from his retirement. He will continue to be judged should he not fight and beat the fighters the public deems the best out there. If he's the attraction, then it doesn't matter who he fights. From the legacy standpoint the selection matters. From a money standpoint not so much. Again, if he only talked about being the highest money-maker then I would agree with him.
