Who knows what could have happened for all he knew maybe Taylor would have been fine but he is the man there to protect the fighters and he deemed Taylor not to be ok after a thunderous kd so I can't criticize him too much.

      Here's what you're missing Spray.

At the time, so much emphasis was around Chavez and his record. Don King had "all" of the fighters. When I say all the fighters, I mean all the fighters. It was almost like a monopoly of boxing.

Do you know the relation between Richard Steele and Don King fighters?

Ever watch Tyson vs Rud**** I? Steele was under the same spotlight for stopping the fight early because King's top fighters was in a dog fight.

That was one of the first fights where Tyson was actually in a competitive fight and what does Steele do? He stops the fight early.

Do you notice the trend here?

Taylor beat the count by 5 seconds. Not one second, but 5 seconds. On top of that he wasn't on shaky legs or falling all over the place like Lopez was against Salido in the 2nd fight. Taylor was looking to his corner, that's it.

What your implying is that Steele could have known beforehand that JC would score that KD so late but he couldn't have, he asked Taylor twice if he was ok but Taylor is looking around holding on to the ropes and Steele makes the call right or wrong.

            Nope good stoppage

Just because it was 5 secs left, even though I'm sure he didn't know cuz it was too loud to hear the 10 sec bell, doesn't mean he should let the fight continue

What I'm saying is Steele either stopped that fight because he made a bad call or seized the opportunity to stop the fight at his first chance.

One of the two. All I know is Steele was surrounded by two major controversies that time that had something to do with stopping the fight for a King fighter.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen guys get KTFO. I've seen guys falling all over the ring like Trevor Berbick when he fought Tyson. I've seen Tyson get KTFO against Douglass. I've seen guys like Khan try to get up after being flattened.

What I'm saying is Taylor was nowhere close to being in the same condition as any fighter that's just been KTFO. Normally in major fights like that, guys are given the benefit of the doubt and are allowed to continue until proven otherwise. Not just straight stop the fight especially when you know the fights been close thus far.

Bute and Taylor arent' even comparable. How many times was Bute knocked from one ring post to the other. How many times did Bute's legs almost give out when standing. Now ask yourself the same questions about Taylor.

Steele is the referee, he could've stopped that fight at any point during the fight. If he felt Taylor was in trouble 5 seconds after letting the fight continue, he had the power to stop it then. But to jump to conclusions and stop a fight with that magnitude without even giving the guy a chance is de****able. No other way around it.

How Taylor wasn't hurt like that before the end?

He took a look at Taylor and decided he had enough the magnitude of fights shouldn't matter they are all men putting their lives on the line for money.

I could see if Taylor was dropped 3-4 times in that round or throughout the fight.

How many times have we seen guys beat the count by 5 seconds, be allowed to continue and clinch to recover to regain their wits?

How many times have guys got on the bike and recovered because a ref gave them the benefit of the doubt and gave them a chance?

Look at JMM-Pac I, Angulo-Kirkland, Gatti-Ward and the list goes on. How many times have guys been dropped and later on went to recover. I would understand if he stood up then fell back down or even almost fell down, but that's not the case.

The difference is those guys were given a chance. Imagine if the ref just stopped those fights for the sake of stopping it.

Point is, a fight of this magnitude and Taylor wasn't even given the chance.

We have seen just as many times this not happen as well, that is boxing and up to the ref to make that call.
