Given the negligible amount of time remaining, the scorecards, and the fact that Chavez had an unblemished record (making the fight even more significant), I think you can make the case that it is the worst/most unfortunate stoppage in history.

If a guy looks out of it, you stop the fight no matter how little time is left. The call could have gone either way in my opinion. Steele was in the right to stop the fight.Comment

It was a bad stoppage. Look when Montiel got iced by Donaire the ref gave him the benefit of the doubt but intervened the moment Montiel didn't defend himself.
