Anyways, that showed real courage. Because, that wasn't no big time high profile fight at the time...Where they would get load of money. For either guy.
What Canelo is doing is not showing courage.

GBP needs to get Canelo and Khan feet wet on ppv's this year.

At the end of the day, Yea Floyd is the best p4p fighter out there BUT he is still just a Welterweight, and on most occasions Floyd can't even make the full 147 weighing in at 146 or 146.5 and then only gaining 3 or 4 more pounds overnight.. Make no mistake that Floyd would probably school Canelo just as he did Ortiz but Floyd will be 35 soon he can't keep giving up 20 pounds for fights like he did with Ortiz at some point its gonna take its toll no matter how good Floyd is.. That is why we have weight classes, which no one seems to be paying attention to these days but the fact is. Floyd is a Welterweight and Alvarez is a Middleweight end of story, there are plenty other fights to be had at MW for Canelo and I would be much more interested in seeing Alvarez vs Cotto next...

Hes willing to risk his record and personal boxing development with a fighter who is arguably the best p4p right now. Yeah hes gonna get a pay day but what do people want canelo to do. If Floyd is interestd he has to take it. Besides the money, Canelo would be fighting a prime Floyd. Say canelo cleans out the division, then 2 years later, Floyd is retired? Then what? Boxing is prize fighting. You have to take the prize when its there. As for Angulo, Kirkland, they don't have a shot against Canelo. Canelo would outbox both of them. Lara would be a good fight, but Canelo right now wants the names with the payday. And unlike all other fighters who call out floyd and pac, canelo brings a huge fanbase to the table, which floyd wud love
2. Floyd would not be in his ideal weight-class.
3. Canelo has nothing to lose in this fight but everything to gain
4. It would be, if it happens which is not, his highest career payday.
Therefor it's not showing courage.
Courage is fighting a fight where you have something to lose...In this case he doesn't...If he losses to Floyd? So what? He was green, he wasn't ready for an immense talent like Floyd. Now him losing to a guy like Trout(who he called out but then had second thoughts) will hurt his career much more. Therefor he doesn't have the courage to fight guys like Lara, Kirkland, Trout, or even Angulo when he was his mandatory.

WHile I agree with Jrosales13 him calling out floyd isn't courage, its simply smart business. Floyd, Chavez, and Cotto are all viable business opponents right now.
WHile I would go the floyd route if I were GBP, there is nothing wrong with ANgulo and then a Brundage or Kirkland. But they need a smart long term plan for Canelo. You can teach boxing, you cant teach stradom.
Keep in mind in 3-4 years, Khan v. Canelo maybe the biggest fight in the sport.
