I love when people say that Oscar was the ONLY reason that fight sold 2.4 million PPV's. Did Oscar ever get anywhere close to selling that many before, or did Floyd??? NO. Oscar helped with his big name to sell those PPV's, but Floyd definitely helped big time promoting that fight with 24/7 and what not. There's a reason Floyd sells more PPV's than Manny.

Oscar was past his prime, but could still fight decent. You gotta remember that some people actually were picking Oscar to win that fight, mainly because it was at 154. Floyd didn't make a 150 catchweight or drag him down to 147, where he hadn't fought in like 7 years.

He was past it but still good enough to be a legit contender at 154, I don't think Floyd deserves special credit for that win.

I don't think anyone would have beaten Floyd at 130 (98-01). At 135, Floyd had good wins over latter prime Castillo and a prime N'dou. Castillo had success in the first fight against Floyd because he was able to cut the ring, and pound Floyd on the inside, and man handle him on the ropes. Oscar had the jab to affect Floyd and could have success on the inside, but I am not sure. At 135, I would say it's 50/50. At 140, Floyd really had a decent win over a past prime Gatti, but damn he was really good at 140 in 05'. Again, I say it's a 50/50 at that weight. At 147, Floyd's defense seemed tog et even more tight and harder to penetrate. It's probably because he lost a bit of speed in his legs once he got to 147, but his defense picked up. I would bet 100% of Floyd to UD Oscar at 147. And, at 154 Floyd should have won the UD, not a SD. That was a gift SD loss for Oscar if you ask me.
LMAO at that. I was a Gatti fan, and still LMAO. A good win? Gatti never had a chance and Floyd knew it, he should have been taking a real challenge.

And, thank God Floyd didn't go for that rematch. What crappy, undeserving rematch that would have been.

And, Floyd never lacked confidence when it came to Oscar. That's why he had been calling him out since 03'.
Good point, Floyd always thinks he deserves more money than he really does, and it is never about fighting the best to Floyd, only the money.

I would take the same Martinez that Oscar beg the WBC to take off as his mandatory as being better.

I wouldn't have counted the likes of Spink or Dzinziruk out against that version of Oscar either.

Actually what made him the best? Because, of his name and reputation? Because, he beat someone who did ish above 147 besides a shot Vargas a whole year earlier?

How didn't he deserve the money that he asked for? What did he ask for? Do you know? If you don't, then don't make that kind of comment.

Pac also only fights for the money...If he wasn't fighting for the money, then he wouldn't be on this crappy run that he's been on post Cotto.

Cotto just admitted that he fights for the money. Thus why he admitted why he pick Margarito over Martinez. Because, of the money.

Margarito chose Pac over Martinez because of the money.

Oscar chose an easy money payday against a blown up LW, instead of fighting a bigger threat in Margarito.

JMM is fighting Pac at WW for the third time at a big disadvantage. Because, of the money he will get.

Who doesn't fight for the money?

He looked very good against Mayorga. Dzinziruk is an enigma. Spinks may have beaten Oscar, but ehhh. Martinez was an unknown entity back then. You're upgrading his standing back then based on what he was able to do recently. DLH didn't look great against Floyd but I also thought Floyd looked really bad in that fight.
