Mosley and Vargas also wanted to fight Baldomir, but Floyd Jr beat them to the punch!

I didn't know this. Oscar De La Hoya too, apparently.

Floyd Mayweather's representatives were on the phone. Arturo Gatti's interests called. So did management persons associated with Sugar Shane Mosley and Fernando Vargas.

"The boxing world is beating a path to Sycuan Ringside Promotions," said Mike Marley, a Sycuan official. "We have the man who beat the man."

They have Carlos Baldomir, who worked an upset comparable to Buster Douglas' conquest of Mike Tyson when as a 141/2-1 underdog he wrested the WBC welterweight championship from the fighter known as "Super," Zab Judah, by claiming a unanimous 12-round decision at The Theater at Madison Square Garden last weekend.

We should blame Brian Kenney and the HBO staff (i.e Merchant, Steward, and Lampley) for calling Baldomir the best WW during 2006. It's not Mayweather's fault that he beat the one they were calling "the best" at the time.
