I have been asked this question 100 times, and my answer is always the same..

Could he have? Yes no doubt but I have been in the boxing game long enough to know that what Marg did or didn't do (we will never know) isn't the main contributing factor of why he was a champ and one of the most feared men in the sport a few years back.

His chin, pressure, toughness and relentless shots is why he became champ. This version of Marg gives Ortiz all kinds of problems because he's bigger than Ortiz and wouldn't let the kid breath.

A prime Marg KO's this version of Ortiz and that's not even in question. At 147 Marg was a monster, now he isn't the same fighter I agree.

I can't judge all time with Ortiz because he still hasn't hit his own prime, we haven't seen the best of Victor Ortiz just yet IMO.

You get older, **** changes man. Marg was in his 20's against Santos, when you hit your 30's your body changes man.

Sometimes you get old quick, it has happened to many fighters. Marg is NOT the same fighter he was before and never will be, that's just a fact.

If you are talking right now that can not even be a serious question, Margarito is not just on the slide he is much closer to being washed up~

If you are talking the best Margarito maybe but can he make the version of Ortiz that fought Berto fold, that was a pretty tough and rugged fight that Ortiz excelled in, if he was going to look for the easy way out again that would have likely showed in that fight. I believe it is much more likely he is resolved to never do that again, the best Margarito would certainly test that resolve but if he doesn't make him quit he isn't winning that fight.
