I agree that Jones hasn't fought better competition, but in this day of boxing since when did that matter?
Pacquiao fought bums until his 41st fight. Go look at his record. That some heavy padding, brother. No one factors that in when measuring his legacy for some reason. Pacquiao also fought for vacant titles and under catchweight clauses for several of his fights. No one factors that in.
So since when does quality of opponent matter?
I mentioned Jones simply because he is a legit WW. The step down in weight casts Pacquiao in light that makes him seem like now that he's finally not fighting an opponent who isn't coming off a loss or being weight drained, he had to step it down a notch to make a good showing .. and he needs it after his last three bouts.
Jones has a certain intrigue to him, and he's no worse than anyone else really. He 26-0. Froch was in the same place when he finally stepped it up in the Super Six and had previously done next to nothing when he got his chance to shine.
Bradley IMO has not proven he's really any better than Jones. Jones is a nobody. Bradley is a nobody with a world title. Jones is fighting for a world title in his next fight. Not much of a difference IMO.
I say all this because Bradley doesn't impress me. In fact, I feel as though if Alexander fought like he did against Maidana, he very well may have won against Bradley. Maybe the weight was the issue as Devon has claimed?
Who knows?
But one thing is for sure: If Pacquiao loses, it won't be because Bradley was that good. It will be because he's lost a step because he isn't sipping the magic kool-aid anymore.
Devon would be beat by Bradley 10 out of 10 times,it was not a weight issues(for why Devon lost),it was a skill issues...Maidana is limited, which is why Devon looked good against him,has nothing to do with weight...

Devon just isn't good enough to beat Bradley and that fight would be ugly 10 out of 10 times aswell.

Found this interesting....
During yesterdays open workout at the Fortune Gym in
Hollywood, California, undefeated jr. welterweight
contender Timothy Bradley decided to have a little fun
with the members of the media in attendance. Brimming
with confidence as he shadowboxed around the ring,
Bradley wanted to know if anyone had done as much homework on his opponent as he has, so he asked a
series of questions about Manny Pacquiao's boxing
abilities, his childhood, and even his shoe size. Check
out some of the many questions Bradley posed for what
could become a new game show for the fighting Pride of
the Philippines..."Manny Many Questions". I got a question for y'all. What side does Manny move to
the most? Let me see if y'all did y'all homework. Which
side does he move to the most? Right or left? Huh?
Who said...somebody said left? He moves to his left side
a lot. Another question, does Manny fight better fighting
forward or backwards? Which way does he fight? Which
way does Manny fight better? He only moves forward,
right? He only moves forward. He has to control the
action. What's Manny's best defense? His offense. And his
hands straight up in his face. What's his best punch? I think his best punch is his
straight left. His straight left. That's his best punch, that
straight left. Anybody know what size shoe Manny wears? What size
shoe does he wear? 9 1/2. What did his father do when he was at a young age?
Anybody know? Cooked his dog. What would be the most effective punch against this guy
for me to do? What would be the most effective punch?
What should I do? Straight right hand. What did Marquez do that was very effective in his last
fight besides counterpunch? That uppercut was very
effective too. Jab. All he did was step back. That's all he
did. That's all he did was step back. That's it. Step back
and went to his left. Although Bradley was simply thankful for the opportunity
to face Pacquiao when the promotional tour first kicked
off for the fight, it's clear that he's extremely confident
and has grown accustomed to being in the spotlight. In
less than two weeks, we'll find out if he'll still be there.
Can't wait to see if Timmy will be able to execute what he says he is capable off. Lots of pacs opponents knew his weaknesses and mistakes but Come fight night everything changed.

this fight reminds me of De La Hoya vs Shane Mosley 1! Oscar was the face of boxing looking for a huge rematch with Tito Trinidad but had a young very underrated fighter in Mosley coming up two divisions to take his title away. nobody gave Shane a shot, said he couldnt hurt the golden boy! but on fight night they put on a classic and Mosley took the crown from the golden boy and was the top dog in boxing.Last edited by hitem27; 05-30-2012, 05:54 PM.
