No announcement yet.
No knock on Donaire but his success is mostly attributed to his size

size is an advantage, either way, sometimes taller guys have a hard time fighting on the inside verses smaller guy, and vice versa, with the smaller guy having a hard time fighting from the outside against a taller guy, it's called match ups, it's a part of the game.
weight is more of an issue because there are pounds being hurled around to where there is more velocity on the punches that will cause more damage, ie, gatti vs gamche...........
a fighter with the right mechanics (natural or adopted) will always have ko power or technique, not size, more physics than anything, more anatomy with hip rotation, and if you focus on donaires hip rotation, he was swinging a baseball bat, it was perfect, he had the maximum leverage on that punch.......
remember, it's WEIGHT classes, not HEIGHT classes.............
montiel had 9 pounds on doanire last night............ leverage erased that equation.......

People maybe overreacting. I love Donaire and he has been high in my P4P list since forever but Im also not blind enough to see that his 2 biggest wins by far are against guys who looked much much smaller. Its like he was way more faster & skillful then them but on top of that had the dominant size advantage. It reminded me of a young Oscar at the lower weights beating up on guys who looked clearly alot smaller.
Donaire is my man but he's not nowhere near the Floyd-Pac catagory until I see him in a big fight against a guy who is physically the same sized. If he moves up and then beats or even hangs with those guys then Ill give him more props

the day before, people are rooting for Montiel...some were saying he was gonna 'expose' Nonito and after he got hit into an alternate universe, NSB has put the 'bum' label on him
why do you d1ckheads do this? where were these types of opinions about Montiel being 'wacked' or 'slow yesterday'?
i even had one guy arguing with me yesterday that Montiel was the better boxer...where's that guy?
it was a great matchup and Montiel just got caught...doesn't make him a bum

then this:
Originally posted by Dominicano Soy! View PostDon't get me wrong, he's the total package, well balanced, skilled, but being so much bigger than his opposition has greatly contributed to his success. People can't deny that, and don't get offended and say I'm tryin' to bash him because I'm not. I never had a problem with P.Will, Caballero or Margarito facing smaller opponents, so why would I have a problem with Donaire doing it? I like Donaire too.
It's obvious though because we've all seen constant threads of Donaire vs. Juanma or Gamboa, even Max brought this to Donaire's attention; on Donaire possibly moving up to FW, so we all know what people are seeing here. Montiel was still a great win and I'm not discrediting his win at all. Just that some like to deny that Donaire's size hasn't played a role.
