Pacquiao fights nothing like Roach. And Floyd was taught the shoulder roll by his father.

Manny was already a good fighter but Roach did teach him to become a smarter fighter, I think Roach is a really important part in motivating Manny and making sure he's 100%. It's too early to pass judgement on Roach's work on Khan, I mean I wasn't really impressed with his last fight besides his ability to stand on his feet which really is the work of Ariza's - Khan's defense was dismal in that fight but Maidana is a kind of fighter who makes people look bad so lets watch and see Khan's next fight.

I have not seen him fight his whole career but I think Roach has helped him out a lot. Emmanuel Steward said that Tommy Hearns was not one of the most naturally talented kids that came into his gym when he first started boxing, and look how great he ended up. Some people are born with natural talent and some develop it over the years.

I would argue that anyone, in any field, must be born with a gift if they're going to rise to the very top of their chosen profession. That goes for sports, art, science, whatever....

Do you think you could be as good as Mike Tyson, or even close to it, if you were taught by Cus D'Amato (his original trainer) and had Tyson's same work ethic? Would you be as brilliant as Albert Einstein, or even close to it, if you followed his exact course of study? My guess is: not even close.

A mediocre talent might be taught and guided to a mediocre or semi-successful career, not to the very heights. It's a subject I've always been very interested in, and I have some very strong views on it.

Pacquiao has a far better offence, Floyd has a far better defence. Both have incredible speed, accuracy and reflexes. Floyd does have better ring intelligence but that doesn't mean he's better overall. And Pacquiao's game plans in his last few fights have been spot on.

The only thing that can be developed is your existing talent or potential. If there's no talent to work with, forget it. If there's limited talent, mediocre results can be expected. It's only with those that have unusual talent that greatness can be hoped for.

Of course, not everyone exploits their talent to the utmost. That's why you'll get guys that win, despite lacking talent (in a relative sense). Talent isn't the only component to greatness, but it is necessary for greatness.

I think Floyd is the better fighter overall. Altho they have been very impressive in their recent outings, Floyd unlike manny finishes fights with a clean face. Manny is usually bruised, battered, and even looked like the loser in the clottey fight. This is the difference in class that I see. Both are ATG fighters. But i believe that Floyds technique and wit, is what makes him the the superior
