WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez was left as the odd man out when Manny Pacquiao finalized a deal to face "Sugar" Shane Mosley on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Besides the difference in weight, and the large purse demand, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is not convinced that Marquez is capable of hanging with Pacquiao at 147-pounds. Their previous two meetings took place at featherweight and super featherweight.

The difference between Marquez and all of Pac's recent opponents
is that, Marquez has been winning. Arum has been selling Pac's
fights against guys coming off loses so why can he sell a fight
against a winner? Even if Pac does what Arum said he will against
Marquez at this point, atleast we will know that Pac finall,convincingly
beat Marquez. Maybe or Maybe not Marquez can hang at the higher
weights against Pac but will never know I guess. Floyd is a different
fighter than Pacquiao. I would much rather see a 3rd go around
than a Mosley match but hey, Arum calls the shots right?
