Even if your correct the mayweather pac fight would still need to go off if for no other reason the money alone. Not to mention these are the two biggest names in boxing and the only two men with a claim as the best fighter going and of our generation. Nobody has jmm and pac on the same level as far as I can tell. It's a totally different situation.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see them fight. I just think people are overestimating how jmm would do because he had a couple of close fights with pac around 3 years ago. A lot has changed since then.

when was bob arum never been about the money? Mosely makes money with pac. Margarito made money for arum against pac. So did cotto.. Clottey ?...well arum owns both so that made money for arum and pac. Marquez? pac fought him twice did around 200k- 300k buys. Now marquez wants 5million dollars and part of the ppv. But that doesnt mean that marquez vs pacquiao wouldnt be a great fight. As you know styles makes fights. Ive said this to my friends that marquez would give pacquiao a tougher fight than mayweather would. Ive always said that a counter puncher can beat pacquiao but thats not floyd. Floyd is the best counter puncher in the business but he doesnt risk. And the most effective counter punch against pacquiao is during exchanges. That why marquez gives him problems. Because he is a good counter puncher and has ballz. Floyd is like 10x faster than marquez and has way more skillz than marquez but that dont mean **** against pac. pac will be all over him cuz mayweather will be too defensive. And that point system will favor manny against mayweather cuz he will be too busy. And if you ever study pacquiao he can penetrate thos defensive guards his speed/velocity and pinpoint accuracy. Im telling you his punches will take its toll specially to the body.
Barrera,oscar dela hoya,cotto, clottey, morales.. looked like they just gave up in their fights against pacquiao.. is because of accumlative dmge that pacquiao inflicts .Most of them were future hall of famers..Did you ever saw barrera so helpless like that. You are partially right, Marquez is effective because he does trade with Pac at the right times counter punching and making him think twice (this is huge in fighting Pac) and he times him really well. if you can time a fast fighter it is just as deadly as being a fast fighter cuz you are able to catch him constantly.

But what you fail to see is Floyd has more tools in his bag than Marquez does. He possess an amazing jab, which if you know boxing can make fights much easier. His jab would allow him to keep the right distance (very important when fighting manny), it will throw Manny off rhythm which in turn means you will NOT see Manny unloading like crazy and coming forward. Floyd slows the tempo of fights to his liking and he does it time and time again against different opponents. Study floyd you'll start seeing things differently. manny gets caught a couple times then he'll be thinking twice before jumping in cuz behind floyd's jab and straight right hand are a whole array of punches. Look what Morrales did in the first fight with Pac, he kept his lead foot outside of Pac's and used his jab effectively which opened up the rest of his offense. Floyd fights southpaws better than almost anyone in the history of the sport. Manny looks unbeatable lately b/c of the guys put in front of him, you fail to see that with a different style of opponent (counter puncher and defensive fighter) Manny does not throw his usual out put of punches so he won't be as busy and win off of that.

Mayweather is defensive and posses a one-of-a-kind style. So i ask you, What defenses has Pac broken that are similar to Floyd's? NONE! Pac has never fought a style like floyd's AND i can't recall a defensive minded fighter he has fought that eludes punches. so the defenses he breaks does not equate to him breaking floyd's guard and winning based off his work rate. he won't be as busy against a counter puncher or slick defensive fighter.

Watch Whitaker vs Chavez, i see Floyd vs Pac in a similar way. Whitaker fights like floyd, defense first, but he was able to catch an aggresive Chavez and frustrate him time and time again. Yes Chavez is not Pac as Pac is faster BUT it is a similar matchup in terms of aggresiveness against a defensive fighter. Just my opinion. Pac is one hell of a fighter no one doubts that but he is doing a disservice by cherry-picking time and time again.

It's a disgrace to the sport that Marquez has to prove himself by beating the exact recipe that Pacquiao's handlers would never let him touch with a ten foot pole. Keep on fighting Mosley's and Margarito's and whatever other defenseless bums with big names you can find while you duck the only fighter who has been able to call you out where it counts, in the ring.

Pathetic. I'm a big fan of Pacquiao, I mean that sincerely too. I love watching the guy fight. That said, every day his training wheels seem to grow bigger and bigger and he's starting to look like another Mayweather. Amazing talent, but untested where it counts.

I'd rather see the great dinamita JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ vs AMIR KHAN. Or MARQUEZ facing the winner of the BRADLEY vs ALEXANDER showdown of january. Because juan manuel MARQUEZ is a terrific, a-list fighter who has legions of fans, is a fighter that is great for the sport of boxing, a boxer who for years has been facing the best of the best in boxing, is still among the best pund 4 pound and deserves big paydays.

...And if you can't create enough reason to stop a guy after dropping him 3 times in the first rounds, and go on to draw with him, that justifies any scrutininy people give to that fighter's stopping ability down the line, several weight classes later.
