    12/44 - 27%

Clottey was more accurate while picking his shots and had power to hurt Pac but when he opened up Pac's accuracy and land rate went up as well. We all know defense first fighters like CLottey will not take those extra hits to get theirs in, its just against their nature.
I'm glad you pointed out a round where Pac out landed Clottey...it helps with your argument, however 8 rounds to 4, Clottey still had a higher connect rate that Pac.

Please don't think I am bashing Pac, I was merely commenting on Clottey's performance. If you look at the original post I just found it odd to read Clottey's response. IMO, I still think had Clottey punch output increased he would have DEFINITELY hurt Pac more than he did and yes I still find Clottey's performace suspect in that fight given his other fights.

Clottey said it himself. Whenever he threw .. Pac would tag him back with speed. Clottey didn't want to be another (T)KO in Mannys resume. Before the fight Clottey stated that he wanted to prove Roach wrong by not getting knocked out. He showed it and hid for most of the fight. If he did open up.. he'd get KD just like the rest of them..

this is what i took from the interview too.....

**** all that **** about pac knowing every move he was gonna make, and hitting him whenever he threw.....

clottey said he arrived in the dressing room, and got a feeling that he just didn't want to fight.

        'nuff said.

connect rate % alone means nothing.

          1/2 is a higher connect % than 8/20.....

This interview is almost as pathetic as his effort in his last fight.

Sad to see Clottey go out with a whimper like this. I always thought he was a real warrior.

Let's go Clottey, you could have done much better. The times he threw he connected. He was just being too cautious and defensive. He had to risk to be able to try and win.

                Thanks Fly Ty...
I understand that however It's still an effective offense, and it's Compubox bread and butter to base an analysis on punch connect/punch output.

Volume is also a useful tool when determining an effective offense much like a Williams, Margo, and Pac.

I see you missed the point. My point was when Clottey finally let his hands go more, he got hit more which is in line with what Clottey is said. You asked how the fight would have gone if Clottey threw more...he'd have gotten hit alot more that's what would have happened.

I mean, I think those are just excuses. Both had the biggest
fights of their lives and both got tight before it? Not buying it.
Maybe Pac and Floyd was just too much for Clottey and Mosley.
What bothers me is what Clottey said about "I just shut down"
I don't know if I buy that excuse. If he would have just been
like Pacquiao was too much then fine BUT "I shut down"?
Sounds like he threw the fight or he just was out matched.
Clottey had more chances than alot of guts and glory fighters
looking to get in the ring with the guys Clottey has fought
and each time he blew it by dropping the ball. I used to like
Clottey because to me he was a tough underdog but now
NOT really digging him as a fighter now.
