Originally posted by O.S.I.R.I.S View PostI didn't see it either but lets really look at this for a second to see why pac was able to do what he did
Oscar De Le Hoya-
He hadn't made WW in several years and to top it off he tried to prove a point coming in lighter than Manny. He didn't even rehydrate up to 160 like most predicted (I truly believe this was intentional on Oscars part) and with all things considered, including his age and the fact he has never looked good against a southpaw, are we suprised that Pac, the smaller fighter was able to overwhelm him....leading to a TKO stoppage?
Ricky Hatton-
All before the fight we heard that Ricky is bigger and will bully Manny. Hatton feed into that and came face forward at Pac with no footwork. He didn't even fight Floyd like that, and just came at Manny, an explosive puncher, without any regard for defense. Are we really suprised that Manny Knocked him the **** out...lol?
Miguel Cotto-
Again another case of a guy not respecting Pac's power. Miguel actually had a good game plan, contrarty to popular belief, but abandoned it, and tried to brawl with Manny. He got caught and latter folded once he found out he couldn't hurt Manny. The rest was just a formality, leading to Cotto being stopped. If anything, this was the most shocking fight of all of them, but if Miguel better prepared mental, it would have been a totally different fight.
Joshua Clottey-
Dude stayed in a shell and let Manny tee off on him. No one should be suprised as Manny has energy for days
So in conclusion, these guys made it easier for Pac than it had to be. I mean Its like someone playing off of Kobe or Lebron and being surprise when they light you up for 50pts. Atleast thats how I look at it.
Btw, I personally saw a noticeable power increase after the second JMM fight. Just look at the Cotto and JMM fights, and how much his punches have a much different effect.

you know why? KFC is younger compare to Mosley....
KFC is a runner and a counter puncher while mosley is a brawler thats why Mosley was gas out...

Using footwork to position yourself does not accomodate your opponents footwork or defense. Setting up your punches does.
Originally posted by ThePunchingBag View PostSeriously watch his fights. Watch how many times he set up Morales with feints. How he set up that uppercut against Cotto with foot work.
I think most *****s seriously underestimate pac and think he's some unschooled wild brawler. If that were true I don't know how he'd be P4P#1 today with all his accolades like fighter of the decade, fighter of the year etc..
Hell, even Floyd himself said Pac was a great fighter.
Manny Pacquiao IS a great fighter, I would never argue with that.
And he is underestimated as a boxer since teaming up wit my boy Freddie.
His inability to dominate or even better Marquez worries me, that's all.....especially against the defensive wizard Mayweather.
PS: I'm no *****, I just can't think of anything bad to say about Mayweather unless we start discussing his ****ty personaor the fact that he is..... Freddie: "losing his legs"

I think is insulting to not call that man an ATG. I never heard of such ******ity.
You can't compare him to Babe Ruth to the players of today. Ruth didn't play double headers or had to travel to the west coast, he didn't play against black players.
I hate when people bring up another sport to try and make a point. Can't compare apples to oranges

Paulie's right, and it's amazing how difference boxers feel about Floyd and the fight as opposed to the biased fans that plague these forums.

You not going to take their word for it but you over here arguing Paulie case saying that he is a boxer so he is more credible then us? WTF but the old school historians are not credible to you?

Reporters I don't know(Print industry was extremely biased at the time), trainers I've never see train, nor have I seen the product of their training, and boxing insiders you and I couldn't identify from a whole on the wall.
Difference is, I know where Paulie gathers his assessments from. I've watched Pacquiao fight, so it's plausible that I could agree with his opinions considering I've formed similar opinions based on fights I'VE WATCHED.
And I find it ****** to gauge an individuals tier of greatness based upon words the wind carries.
What makes boxing any different that track and field, swimming, basketball, football, etc? Boxing falls right in line with the rule, it isn't the exception. Training methods, diet, physicality, speed, quickness, strength, etc, are all attributes clearly superior in todays sports.
