I view the 20th/21st century wars that way because of advanced munitions/bombs. i guess I didn't view the pre-bomb era in the same light.

It doesnt really matter,,,,which era it is... When a government is toppled visa-v war, food, medicine, law, become sparce, and civilians die...

Just think if all the supermarkets, hospitals, electrical, sewer, water plants all closed,,,,think of how many people will die as a result of famine and disease...

dude, now ur makin stuff up. ive studied every american war and america has never adopted a policy where they killed ppl in such an indiscriminate manner. theres no factual truth to that. u find it, u show it to me. furthermore where did u get these casualty figures from. there is no way a million ppl died during that war ,just not possible. at the time that war happened that would have been nearly 1/4th of their population. such a mass genocide would hev been on the level of what happened to the ***s in ww2 in scale. it just aint possible. im sure u have deep feelings about what happened. but lets not go overboard.

ok 1. there is a difference when ur saying us troops directly murdered killed 1 million phillipinos and when ur saying 1 million phillipinos died as a result of the war. ill give u that it is possible that u are right, but there is a big gap between 250, 000 and one million. but because civilians do die because of the type of war fought at tht time peroid (total war), its possible those are accurate. but that was by no means due to any indescriminate murder or genocide of pinoys. but u can easily argue that it doesnt matter. which i understand

as far as the general's order, i dnt understand the context and i would have to see a source besides philnews. but i am always anxious to learn new facts about the atrocities committed during war, no matter what the side. nyways, as i said b4 all these acts are of an equally grizzly nature, one cannot be looked at as worse than the other imo.

so even what i posted b4 was not trying to downplay what happened in the phillipines and saying it wasnt horrid. i just thought u had the numbers wrong. but u never know about these things. u learn new things everyday.

ur rite about the civilian casualties. its something i have made the mistake of overlooking and i sholdnt.but from all acoount ive heard of the war, the us was a slaughter machine and the pinoys didnt stand much chance at all unless they fought using guerilla tactics. the war wasnt fair, it was a pointless waste of lives and its one of many black eyes on the history of our nation. my ppl have suffered as well along with a number of groups such as the mexicans and especially the native americans. its sad ppl rnt interested in learning about these sad histories and its even worse that none of this is in the text books. everything ive learned, ive learned from independent research done in college.

Yes, what the Pinoys did in the war was commendable and showed their mettle and heart in the face of death....

They marched and charged with no fear at gatling guns armed only with machetes and died in waves after waves....which coincidently is noted by Roger Mayweather...

Like I said in the beginning, I didnt want to say because their are very few people here that want to learn and will be ignorant for the rest of their lives...
