What exactly does make a fighter "world class" in your home state of "reality?" I'm really interested in how you assess this. Listen, I don't think PW is the best fighter in boxing, but I do acknowledge, as most knowledgeable boxing fans do, that this man's size, reach, stamina and work rate make him an extraordinarily difficult matchup for anyone anywhere close to his weight. Please tell me one fighter who is going to have an easy night against Paul Williams. SSM is my favorite fighter in the sport, but even I know PW will kill him. Shane himself has virtually admitted to the same. Pavlik has a puncher's chance, but I doubt he could match Paul's pace. A 90-yr old BHop outworked Pavlik for crying out loud. Even if Pavlik were able to beat PW, it wouldn't be anything close to easy. That is why fans consider him to be so dangerous. Certain fighters, because of their styles, pose specific threats to fighter's of a specific style. That is boxing. PW, though, because of the aforementioned attributes, poses a serious threat to just about any fighter in the sport; regardless of style.
I think you're misinterpreting what I'm saying here. Paul Williams is a good fighter. His height and reach advantage will give problems to anyone who doesn't have other talents that make up for those like speed, accuracy and footwork.

P.Will does not however live up to the expectations that his fans and some boxing commentators.. Max... have been setting. Thus my point about him being overrated. I enjoyed the fight, but Paul Williams is no monster. A freak maybe, referring to his height and wingspan, but not a monster. He has flaws and weaknesses and if he doesn't correct them in the future someone who watches these tapes of Martinez and Quintana will step into the ring and expose him.

I'm saying he's overrated by the folks on here but in no way does it mean that he is not a good fighter. Just not as great as some would lead me to believe. Tonight's fight proved that.

I actually think Dawson is pretty underrated. Agree with you on the other two though.

i can't even believe you mention pavlik when kelly straight up ducked williams.

you're talking about judging fighters on accomplishments alone, and yet you create a new thread crapping on paul after his PERFORMANCE against a very tough sergio martinez. Man, you make no sense. If you're gonna judge on accomplishments alone, then judge it solely on the fact that Paul got the W tonight. But that's not what you're doing. You're cherrypicking (again). You're coming in and crapping on Paul after a tough outing against Martinez. You wouldn't be crapping on him if he'd KO'd Sergio in 1. So no, you're not judging on accomplishments as you're trying to claim, but you're judging on performance.

You trip over your own damn words.
Why would you think I judge fighters on accomplishments alone? It's a mix of both, but I lean more to accomplishments than performance. That's why Pacquiao's win over Hatton was more impressive than Mayweather's even though they both got the win. In my mind Pac is the better fighter because of the way he won the fight.

Mayweather's win over JMM would be impressive if we didn't look closer and read the fine print about JMM having to come up 3 weight divisions. That's why you can't judge a fighter based upon one or the other.

If P.Will had KO'd Sergio in 1, I would think that maybe Williams isn't overrated afterall. Too bad that's not what happened.

He'd still need to grab a few more wins against elites to live up to the hype some of his fans share.

God, the man won tonight vs a top fighter who has a bad style for him. He's out there fighting and getting paid, he's doing well, and he is still "overrated". Moron.

According to most on here he was supposed to KO this "top fighter" within 5 rounds, so I say yeah, the man is overrated.

Well most people on here are idiots then. And not all boxing fans are members of this site, the people that actually know a bit about the sport, such as a very few on here, real fighters, trainers etc would have all known this was a tough but winnable fight for pwill.

And if you're going to pick over the finer details (and you should) about the JMM-Floyd fight (and I think it was a worthless fight in general, and the missed weight was silly), then you should also note that both Paul and Sergio took the fight on short notice because of Pavlik's antics. This wasn't a full fledged, complete camp for either fighter.

There is nothing overrated about Paul Williams and I'm not even a fan of him.
