Comments Thread For: David Benavidez makes his own way in win over David Morrell Jnr

David Benavidez moved on, moved up and made all the right moves to engineer his own marquee event, becoming a shot-caller in his own right by taking down David Morrell Jnr for a unanimous decision win in an entertaining action fight Saturday at T-Mobile Arena.

Thank you Benavidez for shutting that clown´s mouth, his smile and tongue sticking disappeared hahahaha. So much for the Cuban school. Mexicans cohones prevailed.

I started watching late in the 4th round. What I saw was a one sided domination by Benavides. He landed almost at will and his defense was superb - the announcer continuously got overexcited about Morrell flurries that were clearly blocked by Benavides. Excellent performance. However, a healthy Beterbiev is a bridge too far.

Great fight, Benavidez looked great and I was impressed with Morrell with only 11 fights showing skills and heart and will. At times he was looking just a bit amateurish with some of his flurries but and he can fix those things. But damn, he put himself in the big leagues now and can get some really nice fights! Can't wait to see him with 15 fights. As to Benavidez, he fights anyone and is a top PFP fighter without doubt.

I'll be very interested to see what the pay-per-view numbers and gates receipts were. Go a long way to decide his next fight.

Benavidez deserved the win in an all action gun fight where both guys fought there hearts out. They both tested each other's chins but it was Benavidez that landed the cleaner shots and more of them. Each round was competitive and yet Benavidez had an edge in most of them. For my money 8 rounds to 4 would be a fair score.

Looking forward to Benavidez fighting the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol. Somehow I think his style matches up better to Bivol and he would be overpowered by Beterbiev in a gun fight.

I expected more from DMJ tbh ,at the end it gave a feeling he could've done more but it also showed he's still a fighter with less than 15 pro fights as i always said despite all of his vast amateur experience Benavidez demonstrated a higher ring iq at par with his much wider experience, with all this said, Benny still a clear underdog against the 2 guys on top ,however you cant deny it remains an interesting fight to watch.

Good fight. Clear victory by Benavidez. I thought two of the judges' scorecards were bogus. I did not agree with the point deduction for hitting after the bell. Benavidez hit after the bell first.

Benavidez was definitely on spaghetti legs a couple of times there. Canelo takes him out.
