"I'm curious to know how Madrimov on an eight week turnaround is more dangerous than a rested Zayas. Am I missing something?[/QUOTE
"I personally wanted to see Boots fight Virgil, not happening. Turki wants to see Virgil fight Madrimov instead of Xander. It makes sense in relation to Turki saying that he want's to see the best fight the best. Madrimov is seen as a better fighter than Xander."
This is the wording of my post that I am assuming you're replying to, not the remainder of the post, so I will address this only.
No where in my post will you see me claiming what you are asking about. What I did say is that it makes sense why Turki would choose Madrimov instead of Zayas for the stacked card on the 22nd of Feb. For one, Madrimov's name holds more weight than Zayas' name currently. He recently lost his title in a very close fight to a man who many consider P4P king or at least in the top 3. Are you gonna argue that Zayas' name carries more weight than Madrimov's in the boxing community currently???
Now to answer your question. We don't know how the Madrimov vs Bohachuk will turn out, Bohachuk might win, which would put on a damper on Madrimov/Virgil fight. Or Madrimov might KO Bohachuk early. Shoot, both Madrimov and Bohachuk might both batter each other and not be ready to go to war with Virgil and Zayas might end up fighting Virgil.
If either Madrimov or Bohachuk win by early KO without getting ****** up, it is reasonable that an 8 week training camp should suffice to get either guy ready to fight Virgil as they would both already be in shape and the 8 weeks would be mainly about preparing a strategy and plan, not the rigors of losing weight and building muscle.
Turki is all about pitting names against each other to promote stacked cards early and create the buzz and to link high profile names to his banner. This is one of the reasons Turki was trying to meet with Canelo before he fought Berlanga and get him to sign with him for the clout on his future stacked events.
So yes, for promotional reasons it makes sense to announce Virgil/Madrimov as a fight on one of his slots as opposed to Virgil/Zayas....
