Retire as a champion or pursue a unification against Gervonta "Tank" Davis next year? The decision remains in possession of Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Sounds like his heart is not in it any more and if that is the case, he should retire. Given that he was wise with his money, he should not continue to fight for the money.
I have enjoyed watching most of his fights, even though in the first couple of fights I could not quite appreciate his level of talent. I did not understand why he was hyped so much, especially after watching the Salido fight. Eventually he grew on me and I recognized and understood what he had to offer. His style was sort of an acquired taste for me.
And no, I don't think he is scared of Tank of anyone. His track record shows that. If anything Tank has been avoiding him for years and is calling him out now when Loma is thinking about retirement (or has already decided to retire).
OP not sure how Loma’s style can be an aquired taste. He never played defense like Floyd, Lara, Shakur and Rigo and instead played defense in the pocket while letting off offensive strikes. If anyone was exciting to watch it was prime Loma
Loma will always be one of my favorite fighters to watch. It's a shame he started his pro career as late as he did, and that he's always been his own worst enemy, getting started too slow vs Salido, taking the fight with Teo while injured and giving away 7 rounds to start, and then letting off the gas vs Haney. He's one of the guys whose career could go into the books under "what might have been". If he'd had a little more killer instinct, he'd have had a strong argument for being an ATG, especially fighting and dominating at least one class above his natural weight. As is, with 3 (albeit) controversial losses, it feels like he might not even get into the HOF, even if it's such a popularity contest these days.
Loma an incredible talent. Absolute blast to watch. Started too late in the pros and injuries took their toll.
I don't think he is in any way scared of Davis. But he knows his body isn't young anymore. If he retires, nothing but gratitude for his brilliance in the ring at times.
Lomas losses to Lopez and Haney were due to that " slow starter " bull**** and letting off the gas in the last round. He was a brilliant fighter otherwise and a pleasure to watch. Fighters as talented don't come around often . Whatever he decides to do , best of luck and best wishes for him , his family, and his country.
I can't find the damn video interviews but I still remember the interview with Tank where he was saying "I don't need Lomachenko for my legacy" - Which all these years later, Davis doesn't have a legacy. He has done nothing to even deserver a spot in the HOF if he retired now
I mean ofc for a guy like Loma money isn't gonna be a big motivation. I've watched the all access shows they use to do before his fights and he lives in a pretty modest house and does things like go fishing and stuff with friends or hangs out with his family. The guy probably has earned enough money to live comfortably with the life he leads and if the passion isn't there which I don't think it is anymore than why not call it a career
