Loma will be in HOF no doubt. He was the most physically gifted fighter of the last 25 years. A pure pleasure to watch and one of the classiest fighters to ever put the gloves on.

It's a shame he started his pro career as late as he did, and that he's always been his own worst enemy, getting started too slow vs Salido, taking the fight with Teo while injured and giving away 7 rounds to start, and then letting off the gas vs Haney. He's one of the guys whose career could go into the books under "what might have been". If he'd had a little more killer instinct, he'd have had a strong argument for being an ATG, especially fighting and dominating at least one class above his natural weight. As is, with 3 (albeit) controversial losses, it feels like he might not even get into the HOF, even if it's such a popularity contest these days.
Well, Salido came in heavy, shot to the balls a la Ward, Haney lost that fight and Loma made a mistake by not having a rematch clause against Teo. We all know a healthy Loma would kill Teo.

I agree with everything you are saying - you are right he was nothing like Floyd, Lara, Shakur and Rigo. The reason it was an acquired taste for me was that he moved like nobody else I have ever seen before. It took me probably 3 fights to adjust and start appreciating it. The hype that he came in with before his professional debut was off the charts so I expected to see somebody who "walks on water" and then Salido defeat was very disappointing. Like others have pointed out, he gave too much respect early to both Salido and Teo and left his run too late. Could have easily won both fights. He beat Haney anyway.

I don't think he is in any way scared of Davis. But he knows his body isn't young anymore. If he retires, nothing but gratitude for his brilliance in the ring at times.
Hey listen, this goes to you, pnut901, BrankoB and a few more of you guys. I love the back and forth we have even if we don't agree all the time. But I need you guys to do me a favor. Let's all ignore posters with names like "poop****" and "groin grabber". I'm telling you those clowns aren't boxing fans they are 'rainbow raiders' that infiltrate sports websites trying to turn normal men into ALPHABET monsters. They're like vampire phags that's why they only post after dark. For the love of ______(insert your God here) please do not respond to them. Thanks!!!

Loma was an incredible talent on all accounts. I know he is proud of his accomplishments and I am certain he knows the various critiques of his career. He will go down as history as a dude that could do things that NOBODY could ever do before or after him.

Sure. Everyone is scared of Tank, that’s why he’s fighting all the smoke available.

Both of you are wrong about Floyd. He destroyed other fighters in the pocket at his natural weight class and even to jr welter. As a small welter with now brittle hands he adjusted later in his career when fighting much bigger men and even then he stood in front of his opponents and made them miss. This is the most easily disproven narrative of the last decade

I have never criticised Floyd. He was a great fighter by any kind of measure you wish to apply. His resume and his accomplishments are second to none.
