Will this guy fight Morrell or Benavidez? I doubt it. Those are clearly huge step ups, at least on paper.

Did Berlanga's stock rise? A little bit, but no where near what pundits are making it out to be. Let's see his next few fights before deciding Berlanga belongs in the top 4 of the division.

If Berlanga is fighting in Puerto Rico, I don't see the Plant (PBC) or Munguia (TR/GBP) fights happening unless Turki is involved with some Riyadh Season collaboration.
Pacheco would be a good fight, see how Diego does against the guy who went 12 with Canelo. Not sure if McCumby is with PBC but they would be an interesting bout as well.
More realistically, I see them dusting off Devryenchenko or Sulecki so they can lose valiantly without risk of exposing Berlanga's deficiencies.

Huge step up should be all about in terms of taking high risk with low reward. Only fools turn down high reward fights. Why, because all you really have to do is show up, quit on your stool halfway into the fight, pretend you broke your hands, run all night, in other words, just go after the money...
I thought Berlanga was going to get utterly demolished (Pacquiao-Hatton, Mayweather-Gatti style) or that Berlanga was just going to freeze up under the lights.
Given his limited skill set, he actually tried, which is a lot more than people thought he was going to achieve.
He didn’t do ANY of the bold. He actually tried.
Charlo’s stock keeps plummeting with every new Canelo fight.pnut901 likes this.

Guys like Morrell and Benavidez, when they were at 168, would’ve annihilated Edgar. He’ll probably get a fight with Plant in the near future…and lose.
