AJ will have seen how many right hands Hrgovic landed at will and will imagine it's a gimmie fight. But DDD might club him upside the head...

The Ring tried to end the confusion by awarding a Ring title to whoever they regarded as the true champion, based on lineage, which, as I said, was historical fact. That was how the idea that there was an actual lineal title, as well as a lineage of champions, began to form in the minds of fans and journalists. The Ring gave up on their endeavour in the late 90s, I believe. They no longer claim lineal championship status for their title holders.

But the idea that somewhere out there, in the hinterland between legend and reality, there are such things as lineal titles, that can only be won or lost in the ring, persists in the minds of boxing fans and is exploited by promoters and master manipulators like Tyson Fury.
Great response. I've been following boxing since Manila in 1975. The term 'lineal' rarely came up in the years since, and even then, only for the most part at heavyweight. It may have been used and applied a few time to Carlos Monzon in the lead-up to his memorable unification bouts with Rodrigo Valdes, but beyond that I cannot remember. They pulled it out and dusted it off for Fury The Ring has changed with the times, especially given that the man and those around him that started it and its ratings system have long since passed. The sport has changed. Fighters like Bud Crawford and Oleksander Usyk go the course and pull together the belts by being the very best, making such terms obsolete. And that is how it should be.

Should be a great fight though. Hard to believe that Dubois is only 26.

Might be another 20+ years before we see a "Unified" Heavyweight Champion again, however; so keep your eyes on who the LINIAL Heavyweight Boxing Champion is.
Too many fans here had taken their eyes off that during the frustrating Fury era.
Perhaps posthumously isn't the word you were looking for?

so instead of a lame shoving match on stage they give us a rumors of a lame off camera shoving match which is even less worthy of writing an entire ***ing article about it.
