What you are describing is a outdated paradigm. Look at all of the top guys in this era. This era. An era of lengthy promotion tours and infrequent fights. An era where the public buys NAMES, not fights.

When you exclude the heavyweights, many of the big fights in this era essentially mismatches. Right?

            Oscar-mayorga.
            Hopkins-Oscar.
            floyd-hatton
            Floyd-marquez

None of the top guys are fighting elites. Hopkins has fought foun smaller guys in a row. With 2 of 4 climbing TWO divisions.

mayweather has fought: Delahoya, hatton, marquez, Baldomir
Pacquiao has fought : Delahoya, hatton, marquez, diaz

Shane fought vargas, vargas, collazo, cotto, margarito.

In my opinion, Miguel cotto has fought the most consistently high level of opp. And that is because he can't generate a PPV. Same with Shane. If those guys fight a no-name, literally nobody watches.

Cotto-Gomez was the lowest-rated PPV in HBO WCB history.
I dont give a toss about PPV numbers. I am a fan of the sport. Boxing fans dont care who sold the most PPV,you might, but we dont. Its irrelevant. I said I dont give a monkeys about your business, because its the way the business side of the industry has been handled in recent years that is doing it the most harm.

BTW Pac has actually fought bigger guys every step of the way....When is Floyd going to fight P-Will?

Baldomir was bigger than anyone Pac has ever fought...and weighed 163 fight night...

Corrales and DLH are about 3 inches taller than Floyd...

              But the weight is irrelevant...

Paul Williams is a middleweight...everyone is dying for him to come back down cuz they think he can beat Floyd

                Exactly what he said

Floyd's the most defended fighter on this or any forum, but his fans always scream as if it's hate. But when they're asked about who and why Floyd should fight someone (in this case let's say Shane Mosley), it all of a sudden turns to "He has 5 losses" or "He used steroids" or "He had his chance", etc. I mean, this is indeed prize fighting, but what most of his fans seem to forget is if Floyd made a Million off fighting Marquez (who never did a Million on PPV), how is a fight with Shane Mosley not a big event with the potential of huge profits (which is what Floyd looks for in a fight)?

Any other fighter in the WW would take that fight in Floyd's position. Mosley isn't on a streak of losses and is the #1 WW in the world. Yet, he's not worthy to fight Floyd?? LOL this is exactly why i couldn't follow Floyd as a fan anymore, dude cheats his fans without them even realizing.

Maybe Floyd should fight Ali Funeka and tell everyone its P-will he is fighting.

The nature of a discussion or debate is to try to see it from the other person's perspective. That is why i tell you what my motivating factors are.

If you aren't interested in what the other person cares about, then that undermines the principal tenet of intelligent debate or dissent.

                    Regarding FMJ.

You can't move through five weight classes always figting smaller guys.
He has fought one - ONE - guy who is smaller than him. Marquez. I think too many people on here are caught up on a trend based on a single data point. hatton is not smaller than Floyd. They are the same size, and Ricky has weighed more his whole career.

My guess? Floyd will avoid Williams. Just like most other welterweights have or will. Williams is high-risk, low-reward. I would pick P-Dub to beat Floyd.

Prior to the Winky fight, I thought FMJ could step inside those long arms and work PW inside. But Winky tried that and PW was throwing punches between his legs, around his back and uppercuts coming from all kinds of angles.

PW is scary to me, and I think he will beat Pavlik. I may be creating a legend that he can't live up to, but I was VERY impressed by teh quintana rematch, folowed by Kolle and Winky.

I don't feel cheated, and I know EXACTLY what I am watching: I am watching a big event wherein the months of promotion is better than the 36 minutes in the ring. Would you agree with that?

                      So, that being said.....

Where is the logic in the BELTHOLDER/CHAMPION AND #1 GUY begging for a shot with the 5th best WW?

Why is Shane begging for a fight with a guy ranked lower than him?

Since when does the #4 or #5 welterweight have to give the champion "a shot"
