That is your opinion, and I respect it.

        Here is my rationale:

Mayweather coming back needed to test himself. At nearly 33, and with two years off, nobody was sure what he would be. If Floyd was active and asked fo Shane, pac or Miguel who were coming off a 2 year layoff, he would get killed for that. Agreed? Good.

Now, since we knew Floyd was gonna take a "tune-up' fight, it also needed to be "an event". He had a big tax bill, and he also needed to forge an imprint at the box office to make an argument for pay parity in a May-Pac matchup. Agreed? Good.

So - and this is where we might diverge - ....

Mayweather needed to fight someone "safe", but is also a name. Someone who had a compelling enough storyline to sell the fight.

        Mayweather-Collazo 24/7?
        Mayweather- Quintana 24/7?

That was not going to happen. That even sounds wonky.

Floyd would beat those guys. Sure. But it would not galvanize an audience to watch. it would basically be a dud fight on WCB. There is NO WAY that FMJ was coming back for that.

If Floyd came back and trashed Pito Cardona or Antonio Diaz, there would be less hate. I understand that Marquez is beloved, and it hurt a lot of people to see JMM be embarrassed and look so ineffectual in there. I respect that viewpoint. But JMM is a big boy, knew who he called out, and he got paid VERY handsomely for that loss. Marquez' status was not diminished.

Now, i invite you to tell me how many fighters would satisfy the comeback criteria:

        1) relatively safe fight
        2) PPV-worthy
        3) brings a loyal fanbase or following
I'm doubting the way he promoted the fight at all!!! Hell it was obvious it was a tune-up and I have nothing wrong with him fighting JM, I'm just saying I would of loved to see him fight them instead for a tuneup!! But hell can't hate the rationale on fighting someone that will make him more money. I just do not wanna see another LW! I don't wanna see *******! I want cotto, mosley, clottey, berto, pwill, and the whole damn 154 class!!!

Dude fought 85% of his career at 140 and below.

Although I would LOOOVE to see Mayweather-Martinez.

I don't think Floyd could beat PWill at 147, 154 or 160. But especially not at 160 where, presumably, P-dub would have grown into the weight.

Paul is not slow-handed or robotic. I would pick floyd to beat Pavlik because Kelly is slow-handed and robotic and i don't believe he would ever touch FMJ.

But Pun has a very good chance to lay hands on Floyd.
If Pavlik beats Williams in your opinion. Do you think that Floyd would face Pavlik at MW?

I absolutely agree, but its time to take it up a notch and put his name in the same sentence as sugar ray robinson or even better! I dont think anyone in boxing from 160 and below have a chance in beating him so lets ****in prove it!!

Then why did you ask me why I responded to your thread? You just answered your own question.

And if you elect to engage in one of mine, then my assumption is that you have an interest in doing so.
Not necessarily. People go into someone's thread to converse, debunk, spam or just plain be a ****-disturber. Therefore, your assumption is wrong. Just because someone's in your thread it doesn't mean they are interested in what you have to say. It's called free will, people go into people's thread for different reasons But being righteous that you are, you think people are interested in your Floyd worshipping points disguised as psuedo-intellectual babble. Why don't you just say, "I love Floyd so much I'm not interested in anyone else's opinion of him."

So why do you love Floyd so much?

i don't think there is any chance of that happening anytime soon.... *******, cotto and sugar are on the radar. would love to see that though.

I'm a huge pwill fan but i dont' think he's as great yet what everyone is saying he is. He needs a few more big fights
I think the Castillo rematch was the last time he took a risk. Going in the Oscar fight. I knew Oscar did not pose a threat. Oscar was old and was not a real fighter anymore. Judah IMO is front runner and I always felt was overrated. I knew a fighter like that would pose a threat to Floyd.

Corales did pose a threat. And, after watching that fight. I felt Floyd was the truth. But, after the Castillo rematch he has refuse to take any risky fights.
